in a moment of sheer lunacy i bought a plant for my office. Its called a Vriesea Anyone know anything about how often i'm supposed to water it and any other shit i should be doing so it doesn't die. I know nothing about horticulture. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any stupid jokes are also greatly appreciated. Any mockery for spending beer tokens on a plant is also taken well. ;D

being quite the gardener i have come across this:
Vriesia splendens - Flaming Torch Has not only the stunning flower (bright red spike with small yellow flowers) common to most bromeliads but also deeply contrasting bands of dark green and silver gray green running along its foliage. A fantastic display plant that rivals the most exotic cut flower bouquet.
Site: Bright indirect light. Temp: Average warmth after flowering. Water: After flowering keep the well at the centre of the plant topped up over the growing season. In winter keep on the dry side and do not water into the 'well'. Keep humidity up by misting. Feeding: A very weak liquid feed every month or so over the growing season. Tip: A tip to get it to reflower is to let the water dry in the centre of the plant then plaace it in a plastic bag with a ripe apple for a week or so. The apple gives off ethylene gas which stimulates flowering (This works for other plants as well)
