Been playing for almost a season now and need some help. Any help on tactics and good players to sign will be greatly appreciated. I'm struggling with everything at the moment from scoring goals to conceding goals.
I;ve got Bogdan Stancu and Kevin Philips up front and still struggle to score goals.
Any tips on quality players to sign anyone??
thanks

I worked on this game at sega mate so I think I can definitely point you in the right direction. The first thing to make a note of is if you're in the championship kevin phillips is an absolute donkey and not worth buying.
If you're playing as stoke ( I presume ) and in the championship Danny Haynes is probably one of the best strikers to buy he has a pace of 18 or 19 and a finishing of 14 or so (all thats needed at championship level) another half decent player if he hasnt deteriorated too much is Onandi Lowe playing in Jamaica he has pace and decent finishing.
Upfront all you need is pace of 18 or higher and finishing of 12 or higher and you should have a 30 goal a season striker.
As for tactics 4-4-2 is fine in the championship stick long forward arrows on your wingers, play slightly defensive (if you are the favourite team the AI is programmed to play counter attacking against you so you will get nailed for attacking) this means you have the advantage of sitting back and being able to hit on the break, play quickly and directly (alternate this at times sometimes short and fast to get the best from your players) tick the counter attacking box.
Go to individual settings give your strikers forward runs all the time almost full attacking mentality always closing down if you have a good striker give some creative freedom
give your wingers quite attacking mentality (about three quarters) direct passing through balls possibly some creative freedom
give all defenders very defensiveness - centrebacks especially full backs rarely go forward (saves being caught on the counter) low creative freedom
set your keeper to play the ball out to one of your full backs and you should avoid losing the ball from goalkicks/keeper distribution
thats all the suggestions I can give off the top of my head

Also get Rene Mihelic for left mid or centre mid he is a great captain and only like 18 when the game start (although his PA is random to an extent) I got lucky with him having a high PA and in my second season Real Madrid bought him for 41 million he cost me 300k so he funded my premiership surival with stoke lol

Some useful signings
Mousasa (Cheap striker with high stats in all the right places) Doudan Stancu Lauri Dalle Valle (great prospect from a Finnish club called JIPPO)
Ill get back to you with some others later.
As for formation I normally stick with 4-4-2, tweaking the team instructions for the type of players you have. I play on the counter, with high tempo, direct passing, and little creative freedom.

cheers for all the help guys, started a lot better this time with a few of them players in the side. Started the season with 7 new players and am juts outside the top six. I play a 4-4-2 formation with wingers pushing on. Do have the occasional game where i concede 4 or 5 though. I;ve tried adjusting the training, focusing the forwards on finishing cos they seem to be missing a few chances

I'm in season 4 now, and after going up and doing a derby, I'm now running away with the championship. I've found that if playing 4-4-2, setting your defenders to a very defensive mind-set, and having your full backs rarely going forward, is an absolute must. Then again I played my entire first season with Matteo as a left back, so i doubt he'd have been able to get over the half way line even if he'd wanted to! I also set one of my midfielders to "defensive", and even with the limited Stoke squad that you start with, you won't do too badly. The other recipe for success was to set Sidders up as a target man, and for some reason he turns into a goal machine. Fuller is a bit crap on it though.

I found Fuller to be pretty good, although he hardly ever starts , I sometime sput him on as a sub, and Marlon king seems to play better with him. Fullers scored 6 goals in about 20 appearances, consideroing most are subs that's alright. Never played Sidibe, always had better options.
And that Dalle Valle, is a good prospect, but I'm in my 3rd season and he's still not quite premiership standard.

I signed Marco Delvecchio and so far after 26 games has scored 20 goals...Not bad since he is about 34-35 years old!!! try to get amazingly fast wingers and very strong centre mids. I have one experienced target man and one who is very quick and young.i have my team as follows: GK:Joe Hart DR:Gabriel Zakuani DL:Guiseppe Pancaro CD:Leon Cort CD:Danny Shittu DM:Quniton Fortune MR:Liam Lawrence ML:Danny Pugh CM:John Eustace ST:Marco Delvecchio ST:Mark McAllister currently lying in the dreads of the playoffs lurking around 3rd-6th place! very close League...somehow Plymouth are runaway winners at the moment!!!
