Here we are three seasons in and still we play plodders like Whelan,Whitehead and Delap away from home.
They are absolutely gash away as is Wilkinson.
Every team passes around our midfield and Rory at times look like they have stepped off the local sunday league pitch.
Players who cant pass the ball 3 yards to a team mate is awful .
Lets try something different ,wingbacks, drop the wingers, wingers alongside strikers in a 4-3-3,
Anything but the terrible trio in midfield.

I would even try Arismendi or Cuvelier in the place of "cannot pass, score or create" Whitehead. They can't be much worse and could develope because of their young age while Whitehead is always the same, hopeless with the ball.
Whitehead is a battler and I don't question his working ethic, but that alone is not enough in this level.

Forgetting the complete lack of skill, ball control, passing ability and vision, dunna be daft, how can you drop players that work 'aard?

Whelan played well yesterday. He was one of the few that did. For their second goal, note the hospital ball that Whitehead gave him meaning he had to take a touch.
Rory is hopeless out wide especially away from home. Unfortunately, I called this one right. On Thursday, Rory was excellent out wide and on the way home I said that this particular aspect of Thursday's game was the only negative, because the good performance would see him used there more often.
I didn't know that Etherington would be injured but had he not been, you can bet your arse that Rory would have been deployed on the right with Etherington on the left.
If Rory isn't played in central midfield then he shouldn't be played at all. It really is that simple. For me, Rory is one of our best and most consistent players and is crucial to the team but he is being hung out to dry when played wide and becomes an easy target for fans who always want a scapegoat.

Rory should not be playing away from home out wide ,in the middle,or even on the team bus ! Our natural inclination to sit deep away makes Rory look lower league ,IMO he does a job at home mopping up when we are pressing higher up the pitch !The best part of defence is attack away from home and deano and Rory leave you woefully short ! I would play Wilson in midfield (as man utd Away last season )where we didn't for once look over run ! But I fear nothing will change tp likes his holding mid so we can expect quite a few more poor results but more depressing a lot more poor performances !
