Anyone see Alan Hudson in this weeks Sunday Times Top 10 sporting hellraisers ?? He's in some exulted company :
1. Dennis Rodman 2. Alex Higgins 3. Mike Tyson 4. Robin Friday 5. Diego Maradona 6. Alan Husdson 7. John Daly 8. James Hunt 9. Bobby Fisher 10. Keith Murdoch
I'm not quite sure about the accuracy of the para that covers Alan :
"You are gifted midfielder Alan Hudson. It is a Sunday in April 1978 and you're having a quiet drinking marathon with your chums. The phone rings. It's for you. Suprisingly, although you haven't played for your country for 3 years, it is avuncular England Manager Ron Greenwood. He says England are playing Brazil on Wednesday at Wembley. A player has pulled out injured;would it be possible for you to join the squad right now? Your football dream has always been to face Brazil at Wembley. What do you do? You say:"I'm out with my friends and I'm too busy." Then you buy another round"

Alan Hudson himself told that story in an issue of 442. It was the second time he refused to play for his country which devalues his media whinging about not having enough caps.

Very sad I remember him playing for England v Germany when he was man of the match - 3-0 to England (?) That may have been his last previous England game circa 1975 when he was also the star man for Stoke Class player who was unfortunately also a pisshead
