Yesterday, I drove my daughter and her boyfriend back to Uni in Brighton - 445 mile round journey. Anyone else done/got to do a longer journey?

Thankfully, my daughter-in-law goes to the local Uni so I don't have to take her anywhere. She finishes in May of this year too so that will be something to celebrate. It's wise to never forget that you only get out of life whatever you put into it. You sound like a good dad, fella. It may have been a long jouney in miles but it's just short step in the journey of life. Best of luck to your lass. She won't go far wrong with the support you're giving her and, hopefully, one day you will be able to sit back safe in the knowledge that her success in life was because you were prepared to do what you did. That's a good feeling...trust me on that one. I'll give you some karma for your efforts. It will help you when you have to fork out some dosh to keep her there. OS.

Thanks OS. If I hadn't smited someone half an hour ago, I'd return the favour - shall do when I next can.
She did spend last year at Keele, living in Newcastle, as close as could be to me, but meant regular calls to give her lifts, which obviously not the case now. Most important thing is that she's enjoying it, and doing well with the studies.

I'm lucky. My son is in his first year at Leeds, only hour and a half away and my daughter is hoping to go to Sheffield or Manchester in September.

I have one at University in Liverpool, and the other at Sir John Deane's College, Northwich.
I am by far the poorest parent in both establishments....
Next month I will be appearing in the 'Big Issue'...

My Mum drove me to Uni in Edinburgh when I started, since then I always took the train. No need to go by car once you already have your stuff there.

Not Uni but have to pick up my eldest lad most Saturdays from training ground in Midlands and drop him back Sunday night for training Monday am. 100miles round trip before travelling to any matches! Roll-on driving test. (For him, although I probably need re testing)
