...what would you prefer? For me, i would genuinly prefer to win Europe. Not only because it would be an unforgettable memory if Bucharest was filled with happy stokies come 9th May, but it also does so much for the city. Stoke would well and truly be on the map, it would be great for a town that has suffered for too long. Maybe we can achieve both? ;D And you know, if we bring in some of the players we are linked with such as Palacios and Bentdner, then why cant we win it?!

If someone offered me Prem survival now and go out of Europe in the next round, I'd take it.

We are more than capable of doing both; and what's this 'Survival' rubbish...we're established in the Prem and that's it....maybe even a high FA cup place again as well..

I would say that you are in the vast vast minority that would take European success over Prem survival. Going out of Europe, although disappointing, wouldn't have anything like the effect of relegation which would see us lose all of our top players and put us back in the bracket of average Champ side.

It's a question of probabilities, surely. Remaining in the Premier League means a greater likelihood of future success - in ALL cup competitions and indeed in the Premier League itself. It also means, should the contingency arise, that bouncing back from the chumpionship is more likely. It doesn't of course guarantee future success. Nor does it make it likely. But relegation self evidently means that it would be less likely.
However, I am surprised that anyone remotely familiar with football in general, and this club in particular, is suggesting that as an "established" club, we have no need to be considering survival. It is less well known than some of his other work, but Albert Einstein's "if SCFC can cock up, they will" law has proved broadly right over the last few decades.
On the plus side, whilst living the dream is terrific, there is a beautiful, hilarious, masochistic pleasure to be had from shipping five goals at Oxford United in the old third division. Little binds human beings together more than sharing such an experience.

Didn't Fulham make the europa final couple of years ago and finished mid table on a very small squad??

Didn't Fulham make the europa final couple of years ago and finished mid table on a very small squad?? Yes. I think they finished 12th and got to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Now, I'd definitely take that. With a few signings, I'd say it was realistic if we stay relatively injury-free. Edit: And yes, it is a daft question. Premiership survival should be our no.1 priority every season.

when you look back on your deathbed at your time being a stokie, you will remember the season you won a European cup above a season "surviving" in the premier league.

If relegation didn't involve the total dismantling of the team (despite parachute payments) I'd gamble on Europe. Even if we give Europe everything we still shouldn't be finishing below the 3 promoted teams, should we?
I think we can have a good stab at Europe and still finish 10th-14th with three or four new additions plus Higgy and Ric back...

Yes but then you would feel like shit again remembering Stoke getting relegated and losing all the good players and struggling to go back up.

No disrespect to anyone, but what a ridiculously stupid and mind numbingly backwards question to ask. No offence like Bit of a black and white response. Thousands of Stoke fans have never seen us win a trophy, we have seen us float around the prem for a few seasons, but that compares nothing to the feeling i got at Wembley...which was unique of the highest order. Winning a European cup is a once in a lifetime experience...being last on MOTD every week and mid-table security is great, but to win a major trophy in my lifetime is the ultimate feeling that your club has done something special. The feeling Fulham fans had in their Europa campaign was incredible, just speak to them about it...just think back to wembley and the feeling we had then...winning trophys is what football fans dream of...are we ever going to be a top 4 club in our lifetime with the money being thrown about? Probably not...so why not enjoy a European trophy. Which is undoubtadly doable. Its alright people saying "stupid question", but i'd like to see some more reasoning. I'm just putting it out there, show some love.

I agree with Yorkshirepotter....BOTH & an FA Cup thrown in for good measure. But TP needs to get his hands in his pockets pretty damned fast to get some decent players. What is he dicking about at?
