Academy Under 10s Weather: Brass monkeys Grass: A bit long Attendance: 48 including Mac A battling yet ultimately unyielding display against a muscular, uncompromising Wolves team. Don’t know what they feed them on in the Black Country but considering the size of some of their lads it was a brave show by the Stoke lads. Special mention to S our goalkeeper who played whilst clearly not fully fit.

Right, i'd have rather played in that than have missed my game like i did. Some fucking twat decided to change kickoff time and then i went to the shop to get some sweets just as the coach came to pick me up!!!!!
My fault, should have remembered that the kickoff time would be an hour earlier for the first time in a long time!

Looks like we've got a good set of players in the under-10s. Can you please post the results for the whole season so we can see just how well they are doing???
I have looked several times at the results and a lot of them have been wins, against Premiership academy's as well.

I watched the under 11's enter the land of the giants. As Bob says, they certainly go for the big variety at Wolves.
The Wolves started strongly (pun intended) and laid early seige to the Stoke goal, forcing our keeper into several timely stops before ultimately scoring from close range after ten minutes.
This simply served to galvernise the Stoke team into action and they equalised before the first interval. The Stoke lads now had the upper hand and made their far superioir technical ability pay against the more direct approach of the Wolves boys. Several superb moves and finishes saw our lads move into a 4:1 lead and were good value for it.
The final quater saw Wolves push our lads back again, helped by a strong wind and they grabbed a consolation second goal.
The under 11's are on a roll too and have now remained unbeaten for several weeks.
Wolves u11's 2 : 4 Stoke City under 11's
Other scores from Wolverhampton.
Under 9's, Wolves 2 : 2 Stoke C Under 13's, Wolves 9 : 0 Stoke C (our lads were lucky to get nil!) Under 15's Wolves 2 : 1 Stoke City. Stoke used several under 14 age group and the bit I saw again saw Stoke with the technical ability, Wolves with the brawn.
Talking to Keith Leighton afterwards he felt there is a different aproach from the two clubs when looking at players. Wolves go with the physic and hope the football comes, Stoke go with the technique and hope the growing follows.
Interestinmg to see Tony Lacey there today. Now works for Wolves after several years involvement with the Stoke set up.

It was bloody frreezing Bob. It isn't a place to be when its cold as you can imagine. Wolves have one of the less well equiped Academy facilities for anyone interested in these things. The lads have to change at Wolverhampton School and then take a short coach ride to the pitches that are on the University facilities. There are no other facilities there other than the pitches which are not the best.. The Stoke parents invaded a Gospel Church gathering to find a coffee machine in order to thaw a bit. We all nearly got enrolled in the choir!

It tried to snow Sunday morning at Keele. I'm suffering from hay fever at the moment which doesn't seem to tie up somehow.

Well I was anticipating a little lie in on Sunday, Bob but I understand the free weekend is now a under 10's v under 11's practice match. Should be fun for the keepers as they could be on the winning and loosing sides at the same time! ??? Its a bit bloody early as well!

Will that be at Keele (University) and can anyone go and watch?!
I doubt I'll bother (what times kick-off?) but just incase we've thrashed Crewe 5-0 and I'm particularly hyper-active as a result I might go for a nice little Penkhull to Keele jog...;D
