Anybody use this and got any thoughts on it?
I currently have the free edition anti-virus, which seems fine, but am getting a 25% reduced offer for the total package every time I receive an update.
Is it worth it, effective.................easy to use for an idiot with basic computer literacy ;D

Bogus, I worked in Internet Security for a while old bean, and with freeware you can adequately protect yourself these days. AVG is fine as an Anti-Virus. It gets regular updates on the Virii signature so all known virii are covered, which is all you can ask for. In terms of firewalling, i would recommend Zone Alarm (www.zonealarm.com), which is again free and is based on the brilliant Checkpoint technology, which is the best money can buy. I would also suggest a spyware blocker, and microsofts' effort is fine, or Spybot's "Search and Destroy" which is also free, would also do the trick. Anything i've recommended is a one-click install as well mate, so shouldn't cause you too much distress

Agree with dixie. I use AVG free and ZoneAlarm. Brilliant, both of them.
Also Acronis PopUp Blocker is pretty good too. Stops most of the irritating pop-ups.

I'm currently working with ZoneAlarm and Avast, with Ad-Aware to cover my back with regards Spyware.

Cheers folks, I've gone with Dixie's recommendations as I was 2/3 the way there already.

Paid for my AVG (£35 for two years). It's good but to be honest it's not a great deal better than the free version.
