last night was unbelievable ....
Driving around early on it was snowing, but not sticking, the snow was light ... and was not a hinder to visability .
Yet time & again coming up the national speed limit section of the A3 inside the M25 I came upon IDIOTS doing less than 50mph .... in the middle lane of a very lightly trafficked 3 lane each way Road........ FUCKIN WANKERS, I had to go across 2 lanes to pass them, I was crusing at a steady 70-75mph ... but some of them I past like they were stationary.
What is it with some people and snow.... later I had to go back down the same Rd to Haselmere, and the conditions were a lot worse, the snow was very heavy at one point, but again wasn't sticking as the roads had been gritted ... on the approach to guildford the visability was poor so I dropped my speed by 10mph , yet still I had to use lane 3 to pass numpty gits in lane 2 .... when we were the only cars in sight.
The only time the conditions required a serious drop in speed were as you come out of Guildford ... over the Hogs Back, when there was standing snow in both lanes..... the Gritter Lorries had been caught out. but it was only about 1cm deep on the Rd ... about an Inch on the verges, so 40-50 mph was still sustainable , and it was only on a section about 2 miles long.....
what really slowed me and others down was the Fog as you go through the single lane section round the devils punch bowl.... FOG & LIGHT SNOW, dropped down to 30mph for that......
Its not difficult to judge the appropriate speed......so why do 40, when the speed limit is almost twice that, and still safe ?
There are 2 types of Drivers that cause problems when the conditions deteriorate, those that go TOO fast, and those that go TOO slow ..... get in the middle and be SAFE ...
before anyone harps on about my record, I have changed my driving style to suit nights... you can sit bang on the speed limit or a few mph over and still get to places a lot faster than in the day.

There we go Dave, feel better now?
I can see this being moved to the boring bin, but hey ho!
I had the same thing going up the A34 towards Newcastle, 2 lanesIt was snowing, only dandruff sized flakes. Yet people were still goin at 30mph in a 70 zone!
[glow=black,2,300]WHY?[/glow]
As i sat behind a woman in a Clio she eventually moved over and let me past then had the cheek to flash her bloody lights and gesticulate at me, at which point i slowed down pulled back level and gestured back ;D Before carrying on my way home!
To think, i was only out to give my lift uncle a lift to the pub!
Anyone else want to share a rant with us, feel free, were the kings of driving rants!

The trouble with driving instructors and the driving test ...
people are taught to pass the test, not how to drive, they are not the same thing....
you learn to drive after you have past the test your were taught to pass !!!!!
which is why standards are so poor.
I think a license should only last 5 years .. and people should be re-tested to get a new one......
i would be happy with this, because if my driving wasn't upto scratch, I would be more than happy to re-train so that it was

Thats a very, very valid point.
My instructor actually said that to me on my first lesson.
I had more lessons than i needed to teach me to drive more so than passing the test. Cost me quite a bit more money but i feel im a better driver for it.

I hate people who often are in the middle lane and are just staying even if they are overtaken by the car in the inside lane.
I agree with the point about people are taught to pass their test not how to drive. This is why i know i can drive because i was taught by my dad and he taught me how to drive and not pass my test.
