Such sad news, after so much suffering. Margaret was always so helpful to us exiles, in a difficult job, and has been greatly missed. I was so pleased to see her, in her wheelchair, outside the club shop, each game and right up to the end of the season and relieved that she was able to be at Wembley. She braved her illness all along, with the devoted Jim by her side. May she rest in peace and Jim continue to find comfort in past memories and his many Stokie pals. For those who didn't know them, Margaret and Jim, as I recall, married in SOT, on the morning of the away game with Hartlepool and were chauffered there for the match, in Keith Humphrey's Bentley. Style and undisputed devotion, by two committed Stokies, a worthy legacy indeed. +100 Maybe the club could do a little something at our first home game. A picture and a message on the big screen perhaps? A true supporter who always looked out for fellow supporters - she certainly helped me many times. My regards to Jim who I'm sure is very proud as well as very sad.

Very sad news. Remember Margaret well from my days of going to every away game on the coaches when trips to the likes of Southend, Exeter and Hartlepool were the norm. Always found her very helpful.
RIP and best wishes to her family and friends.

RIP Margaret. Really sad news, saw her on the carpark at the final. Glad we finally made it in time for you Marg. You were a wonderful lady. I also travelled on the coaches in the 80s and 90s. Looked after us so well she was like my wife, I used to say to her that I gave her more money than my wife. Never worried about tickets for mant years, My thoughts are with Jim, chin up mate.
Again RIP Marg xx Roy and Andy Price

For those who didn't know them, Margaret and Jim, as I recall, married in SOT, on the morning of the away game with Hartlepool and were chauffered there for the match, in Keith Humphrey's Bentley. Style and undisputed devotion, by two committed Stokies, a worthy legacy indeed. That's right, and the rest of the guests were transported to Hartlepool by coach after the ceremony. A coach, I might add, that I was stuck at the back of with the heating and air conditioning completely kaput! It was the coldest journey I've ever endured. So cold in fact, that I was glad to get to Hartlepool to warm up! I don't think Marg was ever the biggest fan of The Oatcake, but it's been sad to see her deteriorate over the past couple of years, especially if you can remember her in her prime during the 80's and 90's. ( ) She's borne her illness with great dignity though and I'm sure she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. My sincere condolences to Jim and everyone close to her.

I always found her to be really helpful. Didn't she get a lot of stick on here when she worked at the ticket office? RIP Margaret, I hope the Club shows it's respect on the day of her funeral.

This is very sad. In my infancy supporting Stoke City, i stood by Margaret and her husband on the old Stoke End terracing for my first couple of seasons. After a few seasons gap, i used to see Margaret again on the coaches travelling to away matches. Move forward several seasons and i got married [ my own fault] and moved to Campbell Road in stoke where i would often see Margaret as she lived in Corporation Street. Since leaving Campbell Road [ and married life] behind in 2005 i very rarely saw after that. But i will never forget my early years when she took me under her wing. My thoughts go out to her husband and family. I for one will miss her. In supporters terms Margaret is a legend. R.I.P My friend. I aim to find out when her funeral is, as the least i can do is go and pay my respects in person.

Margaret was a very special lady and will be missed by many people. The memories of the fun and games we had whilst sitting at the back of Bostocks coach 2 for away games in the 80's will live with me for ever. A facebook page Margaret Kirkland RIP has been set up in her memory for people to leave their condolences which can then be forwarded to Jim at an appropriate time, please feel free to sign in and leave your memories, comments, stories, photo's etc.
RIP Marg xxxx
