Sad demise.

We booked George Best for a charity do at the Brit , Joe about 3 years ago. Had to say, he and his wife Alex were such nice folk. He had to cancel the year before as he was in hospital and we had Dennis Law instead. Smashing fella as well. Always had a lot of time for George after that night. A genuinly nice bloke. Willing to chat to everyone.
It is sad I agree. Fantastic talent by all accounts in his day and what we've obviously seen on TV.

One of the saddest things about George Best is that he's actually a decent man underneath it all. The drink has taken him over and dominated so much of his life.
I remeber an interview with him a few years ago in which he said that if he was alone (by that I assume he meant he didn't have Alex) he would avoid the torture of being unable to drink, and accept his fate and carry on drinking and if he died so be it. I wonder if now he's single again he's doing that. He sems to have given up on life.
I hasten to add that its just as sad when other people are adicted to alcohol not just George Best.
