Went there for the street parade last year, excellent place. Good nightlife and nice parks around by the lake etc. 'was obviously full of out-of-towners that day so cant really comment on the locals. It's a pretty expensive place to live by all accounts though.
StuttgartStokie should be able to give you more info.
btw, the Smart Shop is well worth looking up if you're in to that kind of thing.
The Street Parade is a dance festival, like the Berlin Love Parade but a bit more chilled out. Basically there are loads of floats parading throughout the day and hundreds of parties all over the city all night. 900,000 people there last year, half of them virtually naked women, not to be missed. ;D It's usually the second weekend in August I think.
The Smart Shop is located near to the Red Light district and sells species of cactus, mushrooms and grass that you probably wouldn't find in Northwood Nurseries

Virtually naked? Do you need to buy one of those virtual reality suits? Now if they were really naked.....
Anyway, cheers Dom mate. Have talked to a couple of people at work about the place, and everyone has been saying what a great place it is. Sounds like the 'cosmopolitan without being a big overwhelming city' kinda place. All sounds great to me.
