I haven't got mixed views at all. I'll be happy if both are out of action until the end of the season. I did hear from one source that Ameobi has gone back to Newcastle. If that is true then, presumably his injury would have kept him out until May 5th.

No major disaster if there both out IMHO

I don't dislike Ameobi as a player but I think he is way off match sharpness and we simply don't have the time to get him up to speed. Mama may not have Shola's strike rate but, at present, he is creating more chances for the rest of the side and holding on to the ball better.
The fact that TP is playing Griff on the "wrong" flank is not helping him. I doubt he'll be back in the starting eleven this season.

I follow that one too. Not to fussed if both cannot make it for the remainder of the season as we have players to come in. Ameobi is no where near sharp enough and Griff is having a mini blip at the moment. Dicko and Wilko can come in at the back and Mama is quite clearly the most effective alongside Riccy. No big problem, although in a way I feel sorry for Griff as you want all your players playing the last few games, especially if you have a golden chance like we do.

I think it would be good to see Ameobi on the bench.
We dont have alot of options up front so it seems silly to wish him out altogther.
Griff definately needs a long period recuperating though !

If Ameobi has gone back then I hope that we're still not picking up his mega-tab!
I concur with previous posters that, based upon the last 3 - 4 games, neither is a great loss (which I hate to say in Griff's case as he his form has just dipped recently).
Hope he fully recovers and is raring to go in time for the Prem in August!

Have to say if Griff comes back would like to see him at left back rather than the right

Have to say if Griff comes back would like to see him at left back rather than the right He would be even worse there. Cutting inside all the time so he can use his stronger foot, lets face it, he has no left foot. He awful there in the last few games of last season, i suspect the groin injury which he picked up last season has never really gone away, and he has never been the same player since. He isn't in our strongest XI anymore, we have to play our best team in order to get promoted. Fucking hell, i hope it's ruptured.

The only sweatin i'm doing is if this pair make it throught the fitness test! Unbelievable that you could actually not want certain players to take the field I know, but on what i've seen - certainly in Griffs case, he's more of a liability on the field at the moment

Radio Stoke say Griffin "will miss the rest of the regular season" after a scan showed a tear.
No mention of Ameobi.

Not ideal, but not a major problem. It may well be a blessing in disguise - As much as I like Griffin his form has been poor - bring on the young uns

What's the craic with Wilkinson at the moment, he hasn't been in the squad lately, is that just lack of places on the bench or has he been nursing a knock?

I haven't heard about any knocks for Wilkinson.
And surely you've got to plump for the genuine right-back on Saturday, rather than play a left-footed centre-half there?
Especially as they've got a genuine threat on their left wing in McIndoe.

I think that'll mean shawcross/dicko missing out then. I can't see TP starting with a back four of
wilkinson riggott shawcross dickinson
which i would guess most people on here's choice back 4 just due to lack of experience, i expect cort to start in place of shawcross and/or pugh instead of dicko.

assuming that whelan is back, tp will surely start with
Riggott, Cort, Shawcross, Pugh
Would prefer dicko myself but I guess he'll go with pugh for the bristol game

Yeah, I know what you mean.
But he went with Wilkinson, Shawcross and Dickinson for the Newcastle cup game - and in the following game at Ipswich.
Maybe Zakuani will come into contention? He seems to like him.
I couldn't see the logic of going with a left-sided centre-half and a woefully out-of-form/position Pugh in the full-back slots when you have the option of Wilkinson-Shawcross-Riggott-Dickinson.

I think Pugh has only just noticed scott sinclair going past him.
We change our back four almost weekly, i think it might be causal in our poor defensive record.

Wilko must play,we need his pace.
Shawcross has been excellent since he got rested/dropped & Cort has struggled with his knocks.
Pugh isnt a left back

Come on lads, lets face it - he ain't going to drop cort unless he only has one leg!!
I hope he'll play shawcross as he was immense against coventry and I can't see him not playing pugh at home.
If I can get a bet anywhere, I honestly believe the back four will line as previously stated:-
Riggott, Cort, Shawcross, Pugh

It really annoy's me that stoke fan's are wishing injury to their own players . Ameobi and Griffin are both very good players and at this stage we need all hand's to the pump . say Wilko play's on saturday and get's sent off and Mama suffers a knock then we'd be right in the shit with possibly our most important games in our history coming up .
I know Griff has been off form lately but I'd still like to see him line up at right back on saturday , his experience would be a big bonus if nothing else .
Ameobi has been written off by some stokies far too early . He put in an impressive performance against Sheff Wed , a poor one at Palace then got injured . Talk about quick to judge. Are people forgetting the reason we signed Ameobi in the first place ? It was because our existing forwards were not doing the business , we now have to rely on Fuller to produce the good's .

Griffin is awful. We should never have re-signed him in the first place and he has done nothing to change that view. An expensive liability. Ameobi, as Fornside mentions, isn't match-fit enough to be starting games and was a typically stupid Pulis loan signing.
Any sane persons back four:
Wilko Cort/Riggott Shawcross Dicko
Pulis back four:
Riggott Cort Shawcross Pugh
