Just shown the goals from yesterday...West Brom are now being described as "Universally accepted as being the best team in the division". Doesn't 'universally' mean 'by everybody' ??? And aren't there any broadcasting rules that prohibit this sort of crap?

Fakk me right back since the mighty West Brom were being lorded by Newbon when Macari was in charge they have always thought of us as the outsiders an area that they I am sure they feel embarrassed about reporting on so I have never actually watched or been interested in Central Sports since way back then. Fuck em lads let em lick there own spunk whilst they have their jizz fest over the TRUE midlands teams.

They've probably got the best squad in the league and when i've seen them on tv, they do play good football - possibly the best in the league. But when you're trying to get promotion, results count more than performances and we've obviously had better results than them - at the moment. But why get wound up about it ? If we get promoted, we'll be the ones laughing.

As any football pundit, who is worth his salt will tell you... "the league dont lie"
We are top... so in my book we deserve to be, therefore we are the best as it stands this evening.

Why do you give a fuck? If we get to the Prem, we wont need central news as Sky is the main media. I dont give a shit that Central news ignore us. In fact, I find it funny thay they act as it we dont exist.

dubai - my old man sounds like your old man, Brummie born and bred, but a Villa supporter before he settled in Stoke after getting married to a Stokie. But he's been a Stoke supporter for more than 40 years and is a ST holder in the seat next to mine.
I don't blame your old man, though. I still support Stoke, even though I've not lived permanently in SoT for nearly 30 years. I would regard myself as a traitor if I started supporting my local team. Mind you, it does help that Lincoln City are shite!

to be honest folks, we had far, far better coverage when Granada had us under their wing over a decade ago. IMHO, I feel it would be quite fair to see Bob Hall being tied to the Sir Stan statue and a cheesegrater rubbed vigorously over his kneecaps. Or perhaps that's just me?

I think this goes beyond football. The attitude of the Birmigham-based and Birmingham-centric regional media is symptomatic of most regional agencies/activities where they confuse the REGION of West Midlands with the Birmingham/Black Country urban connurbation also referred to as the West Midlands. Classic example - a few years ago I attending a conference in Birmingham of a supposedly regional agency. I work in N-u-L, and was there with a colleague who works in S-o-T. The whole day was about Birmingham, Sandwell, Wolverhampton etc. At the final session, I asked the chair of the agency why they'd forgotten about the wider West Midlands, including Shropshire, Hereford, and "North Staffordshire including Newcastle & Stoke". Reply - "We don't forget about the needs of the rural communities".

Central TV (BBC and ITV) have always ignored Stoke-on-Trent over the years because we're not really seen as being part of "The Midlands" Neither are we really seen as being part of the "North-West"( although Granada always gave us better coverage than Central)
Our problem is that we lie in the middle of the 2 regions so neither one is that bothered about us unless we do something really successful, in which case they can't get enough of us
Do we really want smug little Nick Owen talking about us anyway or Matt Jizzfeist whatever his name is...?
Wankers

Quite right WoD, although I expect that people in, for example, Shropshire and Hereford, both of which are in the West Midlands region feel, and are, similarly ignored.

Another viewpoint: Hungary in 1954 were clearly the best team of the 1950's and Holland the best in the 1970's but they lost the finals that matter. Looking closer, Sepp Herberger and Cesar Luis Menotti certainly knew what they were doing and worked to get the RESULT. They couldn't play better, but they got the RESULT. Ha Ha, compare Pulis with those Legends!!

...And just to add: ITV championship this morning - Hull & QPR featured match, followed by Brazil v Watford. Then a 'round up' of the other promotion 'chasers'. Well at least the current league leaders were the only one in the top 5 to win today. Roll on next week

I saw that that Leon Barnet cost them £3million.
Not a great suprise they are doing OK when they can spend that sort of money on a fairly average centre half

Well actually Jukebox, I lived in Herefordshire for a while, and Centrals coverage of the area was pretty good. Presumably because it's such a nice place with all the orchards and back-drop of The Black Mountains, Brecon-Beacons and Bluff-Hay, it was something "worth having"
Stoke' on the other hand, with its industial-decay, crime-rate, etc etc is something they'd rather leave to someone else to cover
