Oh no, it's not time for this again. At least it's not as bad as the full marathon, I felt like The Prisoner when that was held, no matter which way you went you'd be blocked in by some road closure or other obstacle.

It's a good excuse for you to sit in the Bridge and drink ale all day isn't it?

It's a warm up for my first full marathon in Notts in September. Hopefully looking to get under 1h30, but beating last years 1h43 would be nice.

Not the Potters arf but seriously thinking about running the same event in my local area. Never ran a half marathon before so probably a 10K would be a better option but I consider myself physically fit. Am I stupid or could it be done for anyone who's done a few, northy?

start with a 10k, if you can run 5 miles you can do a 10k, get running 3 times a week, and build up to 5 or 6 miles, once you've done a 10k it's round again (plus a little bit more) for the half. Vary your training runs, flat/hills/ and some fartleks, This time last year the furthest I had run was 10k, if an older fart like me can do it I'm sure you young studes can

I was in the same boat last year. I've always been pretty fit and used to go for a jog a few times a week. For the half marathon I followed a Runners World 10week plan that got me round in a decent time. I say go for it, maybe have a 10k a month before or something.

Thanks for the advice, the route that i'll be running varies with flat surface and hills. Might have to invest in some new Asics running shoes, my old ones are on the verge of falling apart. Will try and just go for the half marathon, even with a set of dodgy knees.

Times were getting better with all the training until I got the knee injury, but hopefully I'll be back on track soon. Can't see the potters arf been a fast one though, what with it being June and Milton Hill

Can't see the potters arf been a fast one though, what with it being June and Milton Hill The Halton one is normally quite fast as a result of the many attempted robberies and abductions by all the plastic scousers...
