Small matter of Newcastle United and the need to get 3 points to stay in this division we have all pulled together on to reach and stay there.
I respect that there are a lot of excited (and excitable) people on here posting about tickets, travel etc etc but I note that it does seem that many of them are more interested in one 'big day out' than our true bread and butter - The League.
I sincerely hope that it only proves to be a pleasant distraction for the players and they remain focussed on what actually matters most. Its also critical that we as fans re-create Sundays atmospehere rather than get all giddy and flushed with FA Cup glory.
Yes - I repect I may be accused of being a miserable twat but going to Wembley staring relegation in the face will certainly take most of the shine off the whole thing. I am starting to get a bit fed up of the interest that one game seems to be generating when we are in a pretty precarious position in the league.
So lets use all of these positive vibes to push the team on to league safety and flap about 'getting a ticket, where to park, what to wear' etc when we have secured 3 points against the Geordies and played our true part as the 12th man.

Well said stokemark, staying in this league must be our priority, anything else is a bonus.

It's just nice to read threads that are not negative tbh. The result on sunday should give the team the confidence required after recent poor performances.

Saturdays result is huge - lose and we are in for a very nervy month, the semi final will be a bit of a side issue.

Some very interesting games on Saturday.
West Ham at Tottenham, West Brom against Arsenal, Blackburn v Blackpool, Wolves away at Villa, Wigan at home to Birmingham.
A win and a few results going our way will take the pressure off us.
Saturday is a really massive game for us and we desperately need to win it.

Enrique and Barton doubtful for Newcastle. Would be a massive boost if they don't make it.

Good post, this game is the most important until it's over, hopefully with another 3 priceless points on the board. The cup game is huge, but this is where we wanted to be for a very hard 23 seasons. Now we are back where we feel we belong, we must stay there.

You may mock (you usually do) but I reckon a point would suffice from this match. Obviously three would be even better.

I think we've done enough this season, it would take a pretty disastrous run for us to go down now. We just need to chip out the points we need now... ...and win the cup.

Keep the same team minus the keeper (I think the keeper will change regardless to keep Beg happy) and we will do well on Saturday, I must admit I had starting to get very nervy with recent displays rather than results but Sunday showed that we have the players they just need to be used in the right way, and how good was it to have two wingers and not thinking oh god don't go down the left/right because of Delap (no fault of his own) is playing there.
Im going to be up for Saturday and Im sure a lot of others will be too, lets keep the volume up at the brit and cheer the lads on to three points. GO ON YOU MIGHTY POTTERRRRRRRS

What do you you reckon the chances of us playing the same team with Bego instead of Sorro? I expect to see Pugh at left back and Whitehead back in the middle at the very least. Hopefully I'm wrong. H

the benefit of sunday is not wembley
its that after two truly awful performances where we got team selection and tactics and application all wrong, we got back to what we do best
And, the game against Newcastle is FAR more important than last sunday by some light years IMHO

The players and supporters can now see what the team is capable of - and we need to put together some "cup tie" performances in the league now, just to get across the line and give us some breathing space.

This game is hugh. One we need to take maximum points from. Begovic
Wilson Huth Shawcross Higgy
Pennant Whitehead Whelan Etherington
Walters Carew I'd love him to go for this team. 2-0

I toally agree Stoke mark, the game is massive and lose then sundays result will be very bitter sweet We have to stay in the premier and the whole club needs to focus on that. One thing i am sure of is that tony will not forget that, i hope the players and the fans dont either. We need the same intensity on the pich and on the terraces. Me 2-1 Stoke.
