Obviously there is a lot anti-Pulis posts going on today because he fucked up royally last night, but I think it is only fair to give a bit of balance.
He deserves some credit for us being where we are to fuck it up. Although that is partly down to the fact that this league is shit. Still, our mid-season form was a joy to behold & TP deserves some praise for that.
However, he is now proving that during the course of a season, he can be an astute manager when the pressure is off, but when it comes to the crunch he hasnt a clue.
I dont think I have ever seen us go into a crunch game with the players looking 'up for it'. Our desire to win in the first half last night was non-existent, but that is probably down to the fact that the players will find it baffling to see your manager put your best players on the bench for a must-win home game. To field a 'striker' who has scored 2 goals all season and frankly has the footballing ability of Stephen Hawking just under some tactical illusion that he can soften up their defence for Ricky to come on later is laughable in the extreme. His lack of plan B & infuriating inability to drop under-performing favourites takes the piss. That starting 11 looked like a team for an away match to give us a point, not one to brush Palace aside & take us top of the league.
The fact is, when it comes to the crunch Pulis has not got the bottle, which is a shame after his good work earlier in the season.
