Anyone remember that game? Gudjon dropped Thorney and moved Super James to right back. It was a bizzare selection and baffled all of us who were there. Last night was on a par with that game as far as team selection was concerned. It defied belief. Whether we make it or not, last night's game will live long in the memory of most Stokies [Rimmers or PHW's] for it's eccentric team selection.
I'm not having a go at the Rimmers because I know how they're feeling. Most of us are genuine Stokies and are all sick at heart at the result last night just as we were against Walsall. There were no winners amongst genuine Stoke fans last night whether you're a PHW or a Rimmer.
One last thought. Although personally I think we've blown it, football is a funny old game and we might still make it yet so let's not make fools of ourselves whatever side of the divide we're on. If we do blow it though, I genuinely fear for our club. We've spent too much money to fail, but if we do, it could have tremendous consequences in the future.
Bearing in mind that Pulis has constructed his own team on the back of the biggest investment in the history of this club, there is no way he should remain if he fails us now. There can be no more excuses to give him more time because he will have proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he is not up to the job. If he manages to get us up then he deserves a season at the top at least.
On that basis, I will be more than happy to see him here next season.
OS.

Should have started Fuller, should have played Dicko instead of Pugh, should have played Shawcross instead of Cort – sums it up for me. Why we don’t realise what a great position we are in is beyond me. We were at home last night and we should have got at them from the first whistle. Forget the second half onslaught, 2-0 up they were always bound to stick the team coach in front of the goal and invite us on. It wasn’t an indication of how good we were to dominate them, it was just the fact they sat back. In fact, they looked just as likely to score on the break.
Gutted, absolutely gutted.

Yes, mumf, those of a genuine Stokie and not a troll like you. You're enjoying the delights of fans falling out amongst themselves because you're not one. Whatever sentiments have been posted on this board since last night, whether for or against Pulis, they have been posted because they genuinely care.

Oldstokie...Don't kid yourself pal...You've said numerous times about your hatred of Pulis...If anyone has wanted him to fail all along... it is you.!
I could on about your jolly holiday too but I'll leave that for others..
I personally have tried to lift the spirits of all those supporters who like me are completely gutted .If you want to throw stones..look at yourself first.!

I wandered into the kitchen to dish up the vol-au-vents at half time and picked up this half-sentence coming off the Radio 5 Live match summariser:
... Pulis has his selection totally wrong while Warnock appears to have got it spot on.

I've seen some baffling team line-ups before from Pulis, but last night is the first time that I can remember shouting at the radio before kick off. As soon as I got out of the car I knew we were doomed. I even considered ringing up the other half at home and asking her to lay Stoke for £50 on betfair, just based on the team news.

You really are sick in the head, mumf, if you think I put personal dislike before the success of my team...but I wouldn't expect you to understand that. It's all bollox that you are trying to lift the spirits. You're enjoying the scent of blood just like you used to do when you were so prolific on the Sentivale board. Your history is wel known to many of us, mumf.
As for our trip to Dender, that is of no significance compared with the disappointment I'm feeling at the moment. I'd give up a 100 trips to Dender to see us promoted but I don't expect you to understand that either.

mumf - do one. Old Stokie is hundred times more of a man and a true Stokie than the likes of you!
And, yes, I am defending him - because he is a bloody decent, honest, fair, all round good bloke.

If I was Coates I'd insist that Pulis wore that suit on the touchline for the remainder of the season.

What's strange about it, mumf? I take it that's your paternal line? How many other lines of genealogy in your family did you trace back? I'd dare take a bet that many of your descendants came from nowhere near Stoke if you took the time to do it. You're just being silly now.

mumf, if you are an example of what a family produces after 400 years of living in Staffordshire, then I can only thank God, for my children's and grandchildren's sake, that I am a member of the first generation of my family in well over 200 years to actually leave the place to live and work elsewhere!!

Traceable in Staffs since the 1600's doesn't mean much if your ancestors before that (and history would suggest this) were potentially Saxon (German) Norman (French) Viking (Danish) Celtic (Central Europe) and hell, if you want to go the whole hog al the way back, African. Or were the Adam/Eve persons in all of our history white, called Bloor and Copeland ate Sabre Toothed Oatcakes and lived in a bottle kiln shaped cave in the small Pan-Gean African outpost of Staffycher?
