Just been looking at some other MBs and apparently there is some poll in Match magazine this week which lists the world's 50 worst players and Akinbiyi is included at 47  Quite a lot of English based players in the list: 1 bogarde - chelsea 2 alpay - villa 3 steve marlet- marseille 4 roque junior - siena 5 corrado grabbi - ancona 6 luciano figueroa - ex birmingham 8 mario jardel - bolton 10 vicente vuoso - man city 17 acimovic - spurs 21 denis wise - millwall 25 tofting - ex bolton 26 andre flo - siena 27 ambrosio - chelsea 29 ostenstad - rangers 41 repka - west ham 43 johnston - middlesborough 44 jody morris leeds 47 ade akinbiyi - stoke city49 henri camara - wolves A load of tosh basically and only confirms to me why I never bother reading the rag! |

The good news looking at that list is that Lumo and Greenacre are not in it - so we can expect a healthy fee when we sell them! ;D

It seems a bit of a shite list to me. Is Match magazine still going? I remember buying it years ago and it had an article about Brian Talbot and Nicky Morgan playing for Stoke in it, must have been around 87.
Tomas Brolin should have been in that list for Leeds. Total waste of money if memory serves.

Sadly, as far as the outside world is concerned, playing for Stoke City qualifies as a bad period in itself these days.

Ade's problem was that he missed easy chances whilst playing for an unfashionable club that's easy to take the piss out of in the Premiership. Until Sunday, Mutu was missing chances for Chelsea that would have made Keith Scott blush, but were Match of the Day pundits or Five Live on his back? Were they balls. Anyway, like Glenn says, who gives one? |

looks like it's judged on a couple of bad seasons or rough times certain players have had with different clubs, rather than the majority of their time as footballers.
Is Ade all that bad? Leicester and Palace fans didn't rate him, but then ask supporters of Wolves, Bristol City, Gillingham and Stoke, where he has scored goals, and fans do think highly of him.
Andy Johnston might not have worked out for Boro or at Rangers, although he had some very good seasons as a regular in the all conquering Sunderland team in their first few seasons at the Stadium of Light, not too mention his time at Hearts.
Egil Ostenstad didn't work out at Rangers either, although I'm sure Viking and Southampton fans rated him, and Blackburn too.
Jody Morris - not a bad player at all, probably on that list for his off-field problems more than anything. The Dennis Wise one is strangest of all.
Not much thought or decent cases for and against put into the list is there? so many holes can be blown into the decisions to include quite a few of the players on that list. Looks like it's been voted by football fans incable of showing any objective view, or ones that don't know enough about the names they're putting forward to begin with ???
Isn't Match aimed at 10 year olds anyway?

The fact that Adie has been good for us, Gillingham, Wolves and Bristol City is often overlooked due to his time at Leicester and Palace (the large transfer fees did him no favours).
We know how good he is and thats all that matters. I'm sure he loves playing for us, after all, how couldn't he. The fans have taken to him like a duck to water, the reception he receives off the fans is enough to boost anyones confidence right up to the sky!

That poll is utter bollox. The worst players? If you were looking at the worst players you wouldn't look at the premiership. If they were serious they would have got supporters from lower league clubs to vote BUT they can't do that because their target area is little kids who don't realise nogger exists outside of television.

Most people will remember Akinbiyi from the season when Leicester signed him to attempt to stay up. I remember watching him on T.V. and absolutely pissing myself because he was so bad. Some of his misses were almost as bad as some of the ones Andy Cole used to miss. He's started banging 'em in again, lets hope Akinbiyi continues this.
