Not a dig at anyone, just the realisation that after tonight its going to be damn difficult!
And before you muppets have a go, after 35 years of supporting the Mighty Potters and only seeing one promotion, personally feel tonight was the springboard for automatic promotion. Sadly, again, we got it wrong. Four wins now required, on tonight cannot really see it!

I don't we will do it now, we are not getting the rub of the green and this will knock the confidence of the players. I can't see going from one win in eight to winning the remaining four or taking ten points from the remaining four which is what we would need to do to finish top two.
We are likely to be fourth going into Saturdays game and I think it is realistically about consolidating a top six finish before the season ends, and then priming everyone for a real go in the play-offs. But you would have to favour Palace to win the play-offs at the moment.

Its hard to see where the next goal will come from let alone a win.its not in our hands anymore anyhow...unless the others all bottle it. The performances recently are a shadow of only a few weeks ago. The players look tired and the manager clueless

My fear that Pulis would fail in the big games - due to his absence of a Plan B and loyalty to certain players - is coming true.
I couldn't have willed us to win anymore than I did last night but we are now being outplayed AND outbattled - how many 50/50 and second balls did we win in critical areas? In the last 5 or 6 games teams have set themselves up to nullify our system and anyone who has played at any decent level can tell you that it is easier to bed yourself in and defend against straight balls down the middle than it is balls from the bye line or that are angled in. If we must play virtually every ball long - and fair play to Whelan who tried his best to assert himself on the game last night and play it on the ground - can't we even try a little bit of variety and knock it to Griffin/Pugh and at least angle the balls in?
I can't see automatic now and I just can see us beating Palace, Hull or Watford in the play offs. I'm really depressed because I thought this was the season - Good job my razor blades are a bit blunt!
Doomsday scenario - We stay down - Fuller falls out with Pulis - Coates decides to recoup some of his losses and sells him - Pulis buys that big gormless fooker from Barnsley when they go down!
I don't want "Pulis out" - cause as shit as a lot of his football is he has done well to get us top 6, but if he stays Rudge, or someone, must identify better coaches than Kemp because we need to improve technically and tactically.

I have never held the belief that we can gain promotion this season. The reason.......Tony Pulis. He has ben lucky to get us to the position that we have enjoyed. Ian mumps et al you only have to look at the number of times that he uses the word luck in his post match interviews to make this realisation. Hopefully when Coates rubs the scales from his eyelids he too will see this and get rid and bring in someone with a bit of footballing pedigree.

I think we've blown it, I said last week we look unfit compared to other teams. We've signed too many players have played who aren't up to match fit speed - Ameobi, Diao, Gallagher etc. and the ones we do sign are on the bench or not in the squad.
I've regulary posted this season -" remember the qpr line up last season" we needed goals and we get 7 defenders on the pitch, that's the mentality that will not get us promoted. He needs to change tactics, wingers and vary the throw ins, free kicks, corners etc. but he won't he's too stubborn

i can't see it really on last nights performance the only hope we have is through the playoffs and we have seen it on more than 1 occasion that pulis gets it all wrong when it matters so its championship again next season im afraid

We are NOT goin up......
not a fuckin Chance...
If we lose Saturday & results go against us we cud be 5th!! No Stoke fan thoguht we'd go that low!!!
We jus havent capitalised on other peoples miss fortunes!! The only reason were still in with a shout is due to other teams lack of form... but all it needs is for 2 teams to be in form and there you have it, play off's for us.. with which i feel we NO chance of winning.. we have NO form at the minute and even if we win 2 and draw 2, & that still isnt good enough form for the play offs....
with the tactics on display last night..... i officially - dont believe!!!!

ive got a bad feeling, we're in such a good position and we've had so many chances to pull away. I cant see these chances being made available for much longer, with Hull and other teams pushing up we could find ourselves battling to gain a play-off spot let alone an automatic.
Negative? no, im just being realistic. We need to sort this out on the weekend, Coventry and Leicester are the easiest games out of the remaining 4.
Bristol will be a tough game, Colchester will be tough as well even though they're in a crap position it's their last game at Layer road.. 3 Points is a necessity on Saturday

Ian, that is very humble of you. Just out of interest, do you still think he is the right man for the job, as Smudge has pointed out on a previous thread, Ronaldo and Rooney could play and we still wouldn't change the tactics!

I am in full agreement that at least automatic promotion is beyond us now. Before we had lost games and luckily results went our way but we seem to be on self destruct at the moment.
If we go into the playoffs we may as well kiss this goodbye now because the likes of West Brom etc will make tough opposition for the games we will have to play. Even if we win all the games now that we have, which is a tall order, it will be pure luck and once again we will end up sitting on our hands banking on the teams around us to lose.
My heart says yes but my head says we have blown it and one has to ask what the consequences of blowing it this season will be. This sort of money I personally think will not be there next season which makes this one our golden opportunity.

No we wont. Out of form, not scoring enough. The teams in the play-off positions are on form & if we end up in the play-offs we will go out. Cant believe after all of the hard work the team has put in and our support, that its all getting fucked up. Best chance in 30 years, heres to another 30 years then

I think he is the right man for the job and we are there challenging because of the players he has brought to the club and the tactics he has used. The disappointment last night seeing Fuller on the bench. What a boost for the Palace defence to see him not starting after the comments Warnock had made about his abilities. Surely it would have been better to play Ric from the start and take him off later if he was unable to see out the full 90 minutes rather than bringing him on well into the second half. Ameobi was disappointing, I expected better from a player who has changed hands for a lot of money.

Ian...do you not think though that a chimpanzee could have got us into the position we are now in if given a similar transfer kitty?
You really have to ask that given the amount of money he's spent, and the amount of loan players that he's bought in, why we're playing with at least three players out of position at a crucuial stage of the season?

the only positive, I think, is that @ least now we are expecting to be in the play offs (major ructions if we dont even make 6th!) rather than automatic. As such if/when we end up there we wont be on as huge a downer as the team who finishes 3rd (having missed out on the last day) who then get to play the side in 6th (who will be on a huge 'up).
for me the best spot to finish (play off wise) is 4th as we get to play the 5th placed side who psycoligically should be in the same frame of mind as us AND we get the second leg @ home (which I think is an advantage....)

I have to say I can't see us doing it. I wish I could but I can't. Too many under-performers, too many out of position and not enough variation on the tactical side.
After last nights loss I can see the players not believing they can do it either. I think our form is poor and we look shell-shocked, demoralised and out of sorts all over the park.
I cannot tell you how low I felt last night after watching the game. Gutted. Just gutted. I've just told you how I felt, haven't I?
