Does anyone elce think it's a bit of a piss take that we are expected to bail all the tax dodgers out now their good life has gone tits up?
They were happy to take the blood money from the terrorist leaders and were no doubt well paid for propping up his government, yet now that has come to an end, the British goverment are expected to go and rescue them and bring them back 'home'.

There are lots of British workers in Libya working in the oil industry who just happen to live there for their work!

If you were upfor the good life ithink Libya would be well down the list Agree with Swampy, it's hardly Dubai. But on the other hand, it is far from minimum wage and getting fucked by the taxman each month. They were happy to make money from the people who sanctioned the Lockerbie bombings, yet when the country finally say enough is enough and want rid of the murdering bastard, they come crying home.

Yorkshire - I was thinking the exact same thing this morning as I watched them line these tax dodgers up on breakfast TV to take it in turns to slag off the British Government for not getting them home quick enough when they have opted out of our tax system. A sort of human version of the banks, happy to make hay while the sun shines but expecting everyone else to bail them out when times get tough. They could at least have the decency to look a tiny bit contrite about it all but none of it

What would you suggest?, perhaps a sliding scale of tax exempt salary against right to leave a Country about to implode. If you are concerned about people making money from a country that sanctioned the Lockerbie bombings you could do worse than cast your eye over past and present UK governments (diluted though that supply chain of involvement may be) Just my opinion.

The OP's point certainly seems to be the government's approach.
"What, we've got people in Libya?
Oh well, fuck em"

No-one forced them to go out there, they all knew the risks but went for the big money. None of them pay tax to the UK, but when it goes tits up they want the armed services to rescue them. Dave Cameron should just sticfk two fingers up and say get on with it.

what's the point in having these great big fucking warships if we can't use them to rescue British nationals in trouble?

The OP's point certainly seems to be the government's approach. "What, we've got people in Libya? Oh well, fuck em" A bit like the governments (the current one and the last one) opinion of our forces. "what, we have people in Iraq?" "Oh well, fuck 'em" Or their opinion on the homeless, or their opinion on people losing their jobs and homes, or people dieing because they won't pay for cancer drugs!!! 'What, that kids got cancer?" "Oh well, fuck it" Yet we will go charging half way across the world to 'rescue' a few potential tory voters well off folks.

The troubles in Libya have been going on for two weeks and they could have got out days after it started, it was their decision to stay and have the front to criticise the Government for not acting sooner!
