Just wondering if James and Brynjar have any regrets about leaving Stoke in the summer?
Seem to remember Brynjar going to Forest with some parting shot about how he was relieved to be finally joining a club with some ambition!!! Now he is warming the bench for a side that has sold or will sell all of its best players and could go bust at any time!
While I can undertsand JOC's reasons for wanting to join Megson at West Brom, I don't think running out for the reserves at Aggborough on a Monday night was quite what he had in mind! He has fallen well down the pecking order and can't even get a place on the bench at the moment.
Just goes to show that out of contract players should weigh up their options pretty carefully. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Difficult to predict isn't it? Eustace and GNW were surplus to requirements at Cov and Watford - and the move worked out well for them. Russell wanted away from Norwich - they are top of the league, but would he have been getting games if he had stayed? I think the problem is that many players think they are better than their clubs think they are. Some players are right to think that and some are definitely very wrong!  |

Would you welcome either of them back shoudl they wish to return to Stoke (unlikely i know). I am undecided, they were both good servants to the club and left to furhter their careers (so they thought), but would they even get into the team with the current squad?

Several weeks ago I probably would have said that JOC would be welcome back at the club as he would make a great combination with Eustace in midfield. However, Russell has come on so much recently that I think he is looking a better player than O'Connor these days.

I'd have Gunnarsson back but probably not JOC. Even though he was a great asset to the team when he played for us I just wouldn't have him back.

I'd have them back as I loved them both. Me and my son named my car after Bryn and our dog would have been called James O'Connor or Bjarni had they not left.
I know I'd rather have Gunnarsson at the back instead of Williams or Thomas, never mind his midfield capabilities.

Ah bless! Naming your dog after a Stoke player! Is this the same MCF that writes the infamous match previews ;D
Good point about Bryn though. I guess that ability to play in midfield and defence would make him an excellent player to have in the squad.

would'nt have Brynjar back. Admit I would prefer him to Williams at the back. I'd hope for better though - Never really rated Brynjar that much

It is a mystery as to why Gunnarsson never plays for Forest, they are utterly crap and he still never plays, yet since he left we've been a lot better, I just can't work out why we don't sign him again..

Of course, its so obvious.
It couldn't have anything to do with having 3 far superior forwards now than we did for the start of last season.
Nothing at all to do with getting Crossley in, instead of that muppet Cutler.

Well some weeks ago I would have welcomed them back but not now. Gunnarson would have been better than Willo but who wouldn't? Now we have sampled a bit of quality at the back - as in Taggart its difficult to settle for these makewights And Willo don't even get near the weight! |
