nice to see that the his statue is being erected while he is still alive !! as a fan who watched him during his heyday in the 70's, ( he was always my favorite player) i saw the save he made of the Geoff Hurst penalty against West Ham, he obviously is the greatest goal keeper Stoke have ever had and along with Stanley Matthews, the greatest player thay have ever had !! i'd like to see more emphasis and recognition put on past great players, especially when they are alive. I was at the Ipswich game and saw the bust of John Richie. While Stoke have not acheived a great deal when it comes to winning cups, etc, i think it would help with the identity of the team to recognize past players and their contributions. Even if it is a "wall of fame" type thing at the Stadium that lists "great" players and when they played, what they did etc a la George Eastham, Terry Conroy, Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, etc etc etc . It can only improve moral and give present and future players a little something extra to strive for......a place on Stoke City's wall of fame !!!!

Yes its good that it happens in his lifetime.
I wonder at what point in time clubs stopped erecting statues of players? Do you think that Ian Wriight, Shearer, lineker, etc will ever get statues erected of them?

The effort the club are going to for this is fantastic I think, what with the dinners and special match put together. It's good to see the club's PR improving.
