and the nominees are Championship Alan Irvine (Preston North End) Alan Irvine has seen a massive turnaround in fortunes at Deepdale, since taking charge back in November. After a slow start, which saw them stuck in the bottom three, nine wins in 2008 has seen them pass the magic 50 point mark and pull clear of the relegation zone. Last month Preston won five of their seven games played, including impressive 2-1 wins at both Charlton and Wolves. The month ended with the 3-1 win over Sheffield United and Deepdale which took them to 53 points. Phil Brown (Hull City) Phil Brown has had a superb season at Hull City, taking them to within one point of the automatic promotion places in the Championship and six wins in March have turned them into real contenders for the league title. After suffering a defeat to Bristol City on March 1st, the Tigers bounced back in style, winning all bar one of the matches, culminating in a comprehensive 3-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Watford. Mick McCarthy (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Mick McCarthy has been there and done it before when it comes to promotion to the Premier League and his Wolves side could be set for another shot at the big time after a run of just one defeat in their last nine games. Last week's last gasp win against Charlton took them on to 61 points and into 6th place, now the challenge is stay there. Neil Warnock (Crystal Palace) Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace are one of six teams who could still realistically push into the play-offs but they will have to continue with the good form that saw them unbeaten for the month of March. Four draws, coupled with the wins against Barnsley, Colchester and Preston means the former Sheffield United boss could be celebrating promotion again, just two years after achieving automatic promotion. Please let the curse be on Phil Brown

Explanation for the curse:
Sports Illustrated Jinx is a myth that states that individuals or teams who appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated magazine will experience bad luck at varying lengths into the future. The most common explanation for the perceived effect is the observation that athletes are generally featured on the cover at the pinnacle of their careers, so future performance is likely to be less impressive by comparison. This subsequent decline in performance would then be perceived as being related to, or even possibly caused by, the appearance on the magazine cover. This perceived correlation would be present for a statistically significant number of featured athletes. This effect is related to the statistical phenomenon of regression toward the mean.
Er yes. Still hope Brown gets it though, though I can't see Hull bottling after that 3-0
