I've seen lotsa fans complaining about the South Car Park before it was done. I wonder how they would have coped with the Whieldon Road one!? Puddles like lakes when it had been raining, making walking across it like navigating the shallows off the coast. You had to know which lake you could tread in, so that only your soles got wet, and the ones that you would disappear up to your knees. I've often seen blokes running after car drivers who had gone through them too fast, and got soaked by the splash. Happy days! OS.

Happy days indeed, seemed to be like that from October until the end of the season ! After a night match was worst of all, youd leave the boothen on a good course then youd meet the flow from the butler street and it would all go wrong. Always ended up wet and dirty...and sometimes going the wrong way ;D ;D

No lights as well, just to add a little surprise to the dunking!
Having said that, even before they reduced the size by building 2 football pitches and cutting a chunk off for the D Road, it was still a piece of cake to get off compared to the South Car Park.
In those days I would be back in Longton before 5:45 (and in the days when we used to kick-off at 3:15). Nowadays at 5:45 I still haven't bothered starting the engine.

I remember the away fans coaches were down that way weren't they? cutting back that way could be fun ! Night games dodging the puddles and looking out for it pissed off away fans !
