Most teams in our league seem to have a long throw specialist now, in most cases somebody who'd be in the team anyway. In our team, Wlikinson, Diao and Delap all have long throws, although Rory's seems to be pretty unique for the division. I reckon these new balls have something to do with it, because I don't remember every Tom, Dick and Harry being able to launch the ball 30 yards.
As for it being primitive and savage - if it's a weapon, why not use it? Take every chance.

ive caught the ball this season and it really was a lot lighter than i was expecting. Could mean they are easier to punt upfield quicker and easier to throw and that how pulis likes it ;D
