Cracking topic. My first game was Jan 89 FA Cup against Barsnley, we drew 3-3 which I believe was a cracking match. I can't really remember it to be honest as I was only six at the time. I made my return the following season and went most of the home games, including my first away game at Vale Park. Even though we got relegated I was hooked and have had a season ticket ever since, (90/91).

Stoke 0-0 Bath City, think it was the 94/95 season, but not certain. I was 5. Dad says he thought I'd never want to go again.
Incidentley my brothers first game involved a last minute winner at home to Millwall in a good game yet he's only really been interested in us in the last 4 or 5 years.

Paul Walsh was playing for them, along with Steinos big brother Brian i think.

69/70 Season v Liverpool (H) 13 years old Not interested on football - stood on The Stoke End amongst the Scousers, and lived to tell the tale,
Changed my life that afternoon - 40 years on I don't regret a minute of following our FANTASTIC Football Club

vs Coventry when they were on their way to the Cup in '87. Dominated the game but were robbed of glory by little Micky Gynn. Heartbreaking. Clearly remember Brian Kilcline's big mop of curly blonde hair flopping all over the Vic...
Don't think this was my very first game but it was the first that I've got real vivid memories of, and probably the first that really got me hooked.

Used to get cheap tickets through playing lad's and dad's football in the late 70's. Luton game springs to mind, a pitch invasion with Newcastle and fighting all over the place against West Ham. My nan's neighbour used to take me down the Vale occasionally too but you soon get bored of that

My first actual Stoke match, as such, was the '72 League Cup final; my uncle got two tickets because he knew his 'strange' nephew had taken to supporting Stoke.
My first trip to the Victoria Ground was a postponed (Butler Street roof had blown off) FAC 3r replay against Tottenham, 24 January 1979.
Stoke won 2-1, I'd never been so cold in my whole life, I stood on the open Stoke End because I thought it was the 'Stoke end', watched carnage in the Boothen, watched Spurs get run through the grave yard in Stoke, had to travel home on a Spurs 'special' with my red 'n' white scarf hidden surrounded by very disgruntled Spurs fans one of whom kept shouting "Run by Stoke? I can't faaacking believe it! Run by Stoke?"
Still have the red, leather wrist band with Stoke City on it I bought from the 'club shop'!
Happy days.

Was either Wolves or Everton at home and Banks was in goal, I was very little indeed. I was put over the wall onto the track in front or the Boothen Paddock and only really remember the Boothen end clapping Banks as he approached them.

Grimsby at the Vic, around 86/87, I think. We won comfortably. If I'm not mistaken it was by at least 4 goals.

Stoke 1 Everton 1 August 1972
When Greenhoff walked towards the tunnel I couldnt understand it as he hadn't done anything wrong and shouldn't have been sent off. I didn't realise he was injured and being subbed.
