Strauss got a good ball, Prior was unlucky, the others I felt were a combination of good bowling and not playing straight or in Collingwood's case not playing at the ball until the ball thunders into his pads. Bell played well and played a poor shot but at least he got some runs
So, so deflated right now. The Aussie top order will not continue to fail and will turn it around at some stage in this series and I feel with the momentum all with them they will have the confidence to turn it around in this innings. With Finn bowling shit and Perth not being a spinner's wicket this is only heading one way. Finn gone for three 4's in his first over, there's a surprise
We really need to bowl them out for 175 or less, as I don't trust us to chase any more than 260 even at a ground where it can go flat over the last couple of days

Well I'm going to be optimistic and say we managed to turn it around at The Gabba, why can't we do the same in Perth?

Rat Boy and Hussey really taking the piss out of us here. Swann & Finn bowling too short, and Strauss' negative field placings allowing them singles here, there and everywhere rather than trying to build pressure aren't helping matters. We need Hussey and 1 more wicket very, very quickly otherwise we will be chasing over 450 in the last innings. Hussey is set for a big score, again.

We let the buggers off with their first innings and then offered them a gift in our first innings. One ray of hope, South Africa chased 400 to win last year? here, so we have hope!

Not much hope I fear with Johnson's confidence sky high. With Rat Boy and Hussey well set, the Aussies should get another 250-300 runs at least so barring an England style collapse from the convicts we're well and truly screwed in this game.

;D I know but in moments of despair, I do like to offer up confidence and positivity, I've slated the batsmen for exactly this earlier. But now it's happening, that bulldog spirit comes out in me. We can do 'em! They're only a bunch of convicts after all!

I usually offer up more despair, slap myself around the face and then be positive just for the sake of it. Being the favourites always worries me though and I didn't like it before this test how the general atmosphere was one of "we've already won it". And that's not necessarily from the players but the fans. This hopefully will serve as a little wake up call to all of us.

All this match has done for me is reminded me never to have faith in any of the teams I support. If you expect disappointment from your team then you're not as disappointed than if you expected or hoped for success.

That's the general attitude I try to take, hence my thoughts on our batsmen earlier in the thread and my delight when they proved me wrong. I also think it's the British way.

bloody hell. Another shit shot. Another 50 and out for Bell against Australia. This game is as good as gone. Australia won't bat as badly again. Same old England, we bottle it when we lead a series. Massive opportunity bottled by England. I thought this team had changed, but no same old fucking spineless England. Bit harsh that, Johnson bowled well, it happens in cricket

tbh it is evenly balanced, a good first session and a 300 chase is viable
been expecting a collapse like that

I think we're f*cked in this one. Will go 1-1 with 2 to play but the momentum back with the Aussies. I really don't fancy us at all from here

Disappointibg session for England, only the one wicket gone and Mr. Cricket is still batting.
Strangely Swanny is yet to turn his arm over

Decent bowling performance this morning however our batsmen have let us down again. If we'd got to 100-0/1 by the end of play I would have fancied our chances. Despite his double century in the last test Petersen is useless undeer pressure and when we need him most. It's easy getting double tons on a batsmens paradise when we're 300-1 but getting runs when we're 2 down and needing him seems a lot more different. That's why he'll never match Botham or Flintoff.

81-5 overnight. England truly are pathetic. What is it with England going 1 up early in a series and then almost immediately handing the initiative back to the opposition? Absolutely humiliating. It'll be over within 20 mins tomorrow if we're lucky!!!!
This pretty much confirms that it's going to be another shit christmas like every year

Such a below par performance from the batsmen in this test, even though the bowlers have kept to their end of the bargain in bowling out the Aussies twice.
To be honest Oz has picked up its performance as they were always likely to do but they have only had 2 excellent performers here - Jonsen with the ball and Hussey with the bat. Unfortunately just 2 aussies with the rest of the team still looking county standard (Hughes, Ponting, Clarke, Smith, Siddle, Hilfenhaus) It seems enough to beat us with 2 days to spare.
As usual the english weakness is the middle order collapse- just when it started to look like those days were past us.
Collingwood deserves to be dropped to give a confident Morgen a chance next test

I don't think Morgan's the answer. From what i've seen from him over the past few years and his first 4 tests I don't see him as a test batsmen, he's not tight enough in an around his off stump. Bell up to 4, move KP to 5 and Colly to 6 is what should happen in my opinion but no way Flower and Strauss would go for that, they wouldn't want KP slagging them off on Twitter would they?!

aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi!!!!!! Ashes are coming back to where they belong ;D You do realise the actual Ashes are, and always will be, at Lords? And you do also realise that levelling the series means you don't win them back? Furthermore, you also realise that this test win is simply papering over some enormous gaping cracks in your declining system? No one is scared of you anymore, get used to it

Fair play to the Aussies, totally outplayed us here.
Makes the series interesting right the way through now, much better than 4 years ago!!

Another typical England capitulation here. Would just like to question exactly what KP was doing. Bat not good enough, chooses another one out of about six offered to him. Next ball waves new bat outside off stump & gives his wicket away. I'm not looking forward to Boxing Day
