and Either Zakuani or Wilkinson next to Riggot assuming Cort should rest his ankle (thigh?)
Nash in goal and Sidibe on the bench would show that there's no room for sentimentality in football - nor should there be.

I don't know how much gets hinted at to the local media but Acres seemed 100% convinced that Cort would start (with Wilkinson taking over when Cort's injury meant he couldn't continue) despite the fact it was said he'd be out for a fortnight with his thigh strain.
Seems odd that we'd play a half-fit centre-half solely to free up another loan slot in the 16 by not having to include Zakuani in the squad.
Assuming Sidibe is unfit, he also seemed to be expecting the front 2 to be Ameobi-Cresswell, assuming Pearson was fit enough to start on the left?

Do you seriously think Mama will be left out Tony?
I'm not sure Super Tone believes it is possible to play without that sort of player doing the job he has Mama doing. Certainly not away from home.

Hasn't Ameobi been brought in to play the Mama role? Surely Ameobi-Fuller is nailed-on for the last 5 games?
Not as good as Sidibe in the air - but a physical player who can put himself about and hold it up AND do other stuff that Mama can only can read about in coaching manuals.
Doubtless he'll have a part to play from the bench when he's fit, but I'd be amazed if Mama started again this season?

as I said on P&G last night, an 'embarresssment of riches' will now create some hard decision making for our manager.
Its no time for sentimentality and Pulis is already proving that he can be ruthless with his own signings - e.g Pericard on loan and Parkin reduced to carrying a mop and bucket
and So, I really do think Sidibe will slip down the pecking order now with, such alternatives to now choose - even Pulis must admit - he cant score enough goals and - failure for Pulis now - is not an option !
My only woory -its very late in season to start changing a team around too much, even so certain players looked very leggy and mentally weary against blackpool.

I don't think it'll be a tough decision in the slightest re Mama, certainly not for the last 5 games.
The sight of a fit Ameobi or Fuller watching Mama from the bench would be ludicrous. Pulis, I'm sure, can see that as clearly as anyone.

difficult but wonderfully exciting choices are creating this most interesting debate on here

It depends on if you think the manager is likely to go for a style change this late in the day.
I'm not sure Ameobi is going to be asked to do the Mama thing. I can't see him staying out of the penalty area Mama style to be honest.
There is more chance on Mama going to the bench when Fuller is available I guess but I'm not sure he is going to sacrifice his tactic even then.

we all wait with baited breath -for sure !
Bothroyd looked pretty fit to me last week. Sidibe is supposedly carrying knocks too, I suppose the bit we dont know is the comparative fitness of Ameobi -seeing as, hes just arrived.
Id like to think AMEOBI wil get through a hat trick scoring debut on pure adrenelin !

A strong balanced side would look like this:
GK - Nash
RB - Griffin CB - Zakuani CB - Riggott LB - Dicko
RM - Lawrence CM - Whelan CM - Delap LM - Pugh
CF - Bothroyd CF - Ameobi
Subs: Simmo Wilko Mama Pearson Gally/Cressy
Not sure if that many loan signings is allowed. If not, Id drop Gally and have Cresswell on the bench.

Neither Bothroyd or Ameobi play like Mama. Both want the ball at their feet. We will have to play that way and for that reason alone I don't think he'll drop Mama.

Maybe he'll effectively scrap the Mama role for the run-in, as he probably would've done last season if Parkin wouldn't have been recalled.
It's unthinkable that he won't start Fuller and Ameobi every match (after today) Ameobi can play the more physical targetman type role, but I can't see him parading 15-20 yards behind Fuller like Mama does; he's probably not good enough in the air to do that anyway?
