Preview
New loan signing Bartosz Slusarski is expected go straight into the Sheffield Wednesday squad for their game against Championship leaders Stoke.
Slusarski arrived at Hillsborough on Thursday from West Brom for the remainder of the season and could go straight into Wednesday's midfield.
A win for the Owls would extend their unbeaten league run to five games and could see them move out of the dreaded drop zone.
Stuttering Stoke have won just one of their last five league games but maximum points at Hillsborough could increase their lead at the top of the table to four points.
Brian Laws has Jermaine Johnson back from a four-game suspension while defender Steve Watson is also in contention after completing 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek following his hamstring injury.
The Owls will be without striker Marcus Tudgay who is out with a knee injury, and defender Lee Bullen who needs extra time to recover from a hamstring problem.
Frank Simek, Akpo Sodje and Francis Jeffers (all ankle) are still long-term casualties.
Ameobi inclusion
Stoke boss Tony Pulis could hand a debut to striker Shola Ameobi against lowly Sheffield Wednesday.
Ameobi joined the Potters on loan from Newcastle on Thursday and goes straight into the squad to face Wednesday - along with Liam Lawrence.
Lawrence - who has scored 14 goals from midfield this season - returns to the fray after completing a two-match ban and should slot straight back into the starting XI.
Salif Diao could make way as the former Liverpool midfielder is a major doubt with the hamstring injury sustained in the 1-1 draw with Blackpool last weekend.
Central defender Leon Cort (calf) is also unlikely to feature, with Andy Wilkinson and Gabriel Zakuani poised to deputise if required.
Pulis is still without suspended duo Ryan Shawcross and Ricardo Fuller as they both serve the second game of two-match bans. Striker Jay Bothroyd is also pushing for a start.
The Potters also secured the services of Scotland international Stephen Pearson on Thursday.
The Derby midfielder will remain at the Britannia Stadium on loan until the end of the season but is doubtful for the trip to Hillsborough after pulling out of the Scotland squad in midweek with a hernia problem.
