Who are the teams in the past who have had success and you've secretly thought,I wish that was us,but that team are now no where near us regarding league status,I'm watching Brighton on sky and was just thinking watching the game we had a promotion battle with them no disrespect to them but the games rubbish and I'm grateful I don't support them, but at one time they were better than us.

Used to think that about Bolton when we were battling it out in the lower leagues. Thinking back, can't believe that Stockport were a mini rival of ours

A couple of years after losing to Leicester in the play offs they were playing and beating Red Star Belgrade in Europe and we'd got a zenith data trophy game, I can't think who against but it was someone shit (and they beat us).
Also as someone else mentioned Bolton for similar reasons

There are teams where I have begrudged their success at our expense but I have NEVER wished we were a different team.
(maybe I have missed the point of the question?)

I think what I mean is everthings turned out great up to this point and after all these yrs we've got where we are and some teams are a lot worse off than us now,we're now having our purple patch.

I work in Derby, in 1998 when we got relegated Derby, Leicester and forest were doing very well.
Every week the lads at work would piss takingly ask who we were playing at the weekend. I would say who we were playing, which was generally a shit team. Their reply would be "we've got Liverpool or Man utd"
I really couldn't see how teams like Derby, Forest and Leicester could be that much better than us.
On the flip side the demise of those teams should be a reminder to us all not to take Premiership football for granted. At the minute we are doing very well and everything seems rosy but if things ever turned we could be down on our arses just as quick as they have found themselves.

This. Absolutely fantastic night in our student house. We were an Arsenal fan, a Derby fan, a Wolves fan, a Scunthorpe fan and me... But for a couple of hours we were all singing like Canaries :-) RoryM
