We have a problem at Stoke that Pulis seems to split fans.
I dont mean Rimmers or PHWs i mean normal run of the mill fans.
Some say results warrant what he does others say its all inspite of him.
What i personally believe is maybe he should be meeting the supporters more or at least trying to put across in his programe notes or presss what he is trying to achieve and why. Most people will agree his tacticts and selections can confuse so why not explain to us .
Some will say why should he ,i will say for the good of the club we need all the supporters behind him and the club anything that brings people onside the better.

I was disappointed at the team selection for the first half against Newcastle, like many others on here. But I think it's a bit over dramatic to say there's a wide split and ridiculous to suggest that Pulis needs to explain anything.
People come on here and post their frustrations (as well as the well-known attention seekers who post inflammatory stuff just to get a reaction). But that's what a messageboard is all about.
The Brit is still close to sell out on most games - and there's been no mass protests or even dissent from the fans there that I can remember. I think the vast majority of fans wholeheartedly support the manager.

oh, for goodness' sake. he's won three of the last four games, 7 points out of a possible 9 in the league, and you want him to hold your hand all night so you don't wet the bed?

Whilst I don't agree with some of his more insane/bizarre set ups, selections and tactics I don't think he should have to explain to anyone how and why he does it.

No I think you have it wrong.
Pulis came to this club with a reputation for a certain way of playing football. If some like it and some don't, if some understand it and some don't then it is not really his concern. We employed Pulis to do what Pulis does and he has done that. Moreover it has worked. You may not like it, but no one has any right to ask him to justify himself. His results do that.
If the results are not there then only then has he some explaining to do.

I don't think he needs to explain anything TBH.
I do think that he is doing the opposite of what we used to do in the championship where we would start with a team to try and get a goal and then bring on the more defense minded players. Whereas, now we start with the defense minded players and make changes to try and get back in a game or to nick a goal.
Nothing wrong IMHO as the results are showing!!!

Kev, you're obviously right about splitting the fans, I think if I was Peter Coates I'd want explanations on why we have spent £63 million on players yet don't field most of the players bought, I know the argument that we've earned so much money by being in the prem but no business can waste a whole years turnover on purchases not used. If they want to continue to play the present tactics I suggest no more money is spent, if the fans on here are anything to go by, they'll except dreadful play on the pitch as long as stoke continue to scrape points. If PC still wants to reduce his bank balance by up to £63 mill he can reduce the ticket prices.

I don't think any manager justifies his tactics to supporters in such a fashion do they?
Having said that though it would be interesting to learn how on arriving in the North East he thought St James's was the Nou Camp and Joey Barton was Leonel Messi to necessitate such a cautious line up.

To be fair he does seem to think every team has a playmaker as good as Makelele and makes Walters chase him all first half.

And here they all go again, confusing Oatcake posters with Stoke fans!
The vast majority of Stoke fans either don't know or don't care about this messageboard, so equating any rift on here with what 'Stoke fans' as a whole are thinking is nonsense.
For christ's sake get out from up your own arses, nobody outside this message board gives a sweet flying fuck what any of us think or say, and damn right too judging by the bollocks posted on here.

I don't agree with his selections and all that, but I can understand what he does, he's done wonders for this club and aslong as he keeps us in the prem he has my support, I really don't see how people can moan about pulis tbh, yes some of his tactics are stupid and his selections too, but let's face it, if he didn't return to us where would we be now? Championship? League one? Some peoples expecttations are pathetic
Well done king tone, done a fantastic job and long may it continue.

What a load of tosh..why the fook should he explain anything to you? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cj7bsBj2jOTuEAUVaPt5.gif) Look on any message board and unless the team win every week then you will see the same dross. Newcastle fans are questioning their manager's tactics/selections after losing to Stoke Villa fans were split over Martin O'Neil which was one of the reasons he left - give us a break! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cj7bsBj2jOTuEAUVaPt5.gif) If you have any questions for TP then list them below and I will answer them for him - I'm not TP but I understand his thinking - so I am the next best option ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

Pulis doesn't need to explain anything, tbh. It's his job, he's moved the club forward immeasurably in the last five years and he'll live or die by the decisions he makes from this day forward.
We might not like his '60/30' tactic, perhaps even feeling a bit short changed that we don't try to 'play' for the full 90 minutes, 'pushing on' at his pace rather than ours.
But, the bottom line is we've finished 12th and 11th and look every bit mid-table again this season now that we've got going.

Explain isn't the same as justify and in this context I don't take it as a 'punishment' word either. It'd just be nice to know what is going on under the baseball cap sometimes, but yer man Pulis seems to be from the, 'never appologise, never explain' school.

He needs to apologise for getting us promotion and keeping us in the midtable for 2 seasons? Bloody hell that would be bad for Man Utd yes, but thats GOOD for a small team like Stoke you know
