It was 93-94 at old trafford mate. Big hopes from the magnificent 2-1 victory in the first leg then we got beat 2-0. Think we took 9k to anfield in 91-92.

Even then, (when it wasn't as big as it is now) I remember the "wow" factor as we walked up the steps to the seats and saw the stadium lit up infront. I went with a neutral colleague who always wanted to go to Old Trafford but hated Man U, so adopting Stoke for the night got him round that. Remember Lee Sharpe coming on as a sub and scoring - can't remember the other. I think they made sure Steino was closed down all night after the home leg. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/4tzqvp1fxEemag_TAXLJ.gif)

Think we took 9k to anfield in 91-92. Remember it very well! What a header from Cranny and the nutmeg produced one of the biggest mentals of all time! I went on a mini bus that day, and at 16 was by far the youngest on a bus of 'lads'. On getting into the ground we were split and had to be moved to the corner paddock as we had filled the away end. After we scored the first everyone I was sat with were arrested and I sat and watched the rest of the game on my tod! Then had to try and find the mini bus on my own having no idea where it was parked!! OOoooog the memories! ;D

Man Utd were awful, honestly don't think they sung until they made it 2-0, sure Stoke at home is'nt a big game for them in the cup, but fuck me souless bunch of clowns or what? There was mobs of Stoke everywhere all around the ground, did'nt see any of their 'brave' lads dishing it out to grannies, women and kids that day, suprise suprise

I remember going to the United away game. Unfortunately I was too young to go to Liverpool game. Would have loved to have been in the mental when TK scored through Brucie's legs.
I'm sure we took nigh on 10,000 for the game at Old Trafford. Having a 2-1 lead and 10,000 supporters singing the boys on I genuinely thought we had a chance of progressing and knocikng the dirty reds out that night.
From what I recall the M6 was absolutely chocca of stoke fans and several hundred were late getting into the ground due to delays. Old trafford still had terracing at the front of the stand back then and we sat just above the terracing part.
Can't remember much about the game and I'm sure Stein had either been sold or didn't play. Could be completly wrong but thats what I seem to remember.
The game was a poor one and they scored right at the end of the first half to bring th egame level on aggregate. They then brought on Lee sharpe with ten minutes to go and he changed the game for them. Think they scored their second with about 10 minutes to go if i can remember and we were out.
It was my first and only visit to Old Trafford for a game. I have refused to pay the prices to the dirty scummers since our return to the Premier League.

We didn't get going in that game at all, huge Stoke following (we stood on the terrace) and a glimpse into the future. I recall Mark Hughes nobbling Foghorn with an elbow that night as well.

Liverpool away 2-2 was epic, Away was packed and full of noise, Kelly rolled that late goal through Grobs legs and we went mental. I remember Carl Beeston playing his first game back from a long layoff and he covered every blade of grass that night. Fans walking through the street singing `we've got something you ant got, we've got Lou Macari'.....Will there ever be another Stoke manager who was so well supported? not even TP gets many songs sang about him these days and were in the Prem!

Best thing about the Manure game was the tannoy before kick off which said something like "Attention Attention, members of the Ashbourne and Torquay Manchester Utd supporters, you have the wrong tickets, please come to reception immediately" - you can picture the evil grins on 'some' stokies faces !!!!!
