It's all too easy to slag the agent off, but in this age of huge contracts for footballers in the top two divisions aren't they a necessity? Do you really think thick bastards like bellamy, rooney, bramble and co could negotiate a contract?
There are agents working in all areas of employment, and although they are like leach-like in their behaviour the successful agencies would not be making such great profits if they were not providing a very needy service.
Or are they just a bunch of parasites bleeding football dry?

You've already answered that yourself..."Thick Basturds". Rooney didn't even know the difference between an old Hooker, and a left wing cross.!! ;D

I think that's unfair to scum.
The players have the PFA to act for them. It should be enough.
Agents take money out of football, the money that used to filter down to the lower leagues and keep smaller clubs in business.
I've said this before, I work in the entertainment industry and when I had an agent, I paid him out of my salary. Football agents demand a payment from the clubs. This cannot be anything but immoral and has to be addressed by the PFA, the Football League and the FA.

Alan...Your comments are very rash.
Rooney, Ronaldoand many other thick fuckers also take a bloody fortune out of the game...Posh and Becks too. It's a game of natural selection orchestrated and presided over by a gang of incontinent thick basturds at the top.You remember...those who thought Thickskin Karmasutra was a fit and proper person to be able to take over Man City football club...those who appointed Steve McClaren as England manager.
Personally I would l ban the whole idea of football agents...
Next season Beckham,Rooney and Ferdinand would probably secure new contracts of £280 a week. ! ;D

mumf - the PFA would secure damn good deals for their membership WITHOUT taking a huge fee from the clubs as well.
We've already seen (with Sheron if you recall) that agents can undermine a club's ambition with comments such as (paraphrased) - "we all know that an unhappy player isn't as effective on the pitch".
I agree they should be banned. However I can't see that happening, so there needs to be an enforcible set of rules they have to abide by, the first of which is that they cannot demand fees from ANY club for ANY reason.

Yes they are. They need to be forced out of football, The only way it will be done is if clubs as a whole boycott agents (Which will never happen) or the people who run football ban them. Fair play to clubs like Crwho who refuse to deal with an agent.

They are the Estate Agents of football. Totally unneccessary except to inflate the price and lie to prospective buyers. Wankers.
