Mama on his day is a real handful and I don't think anyone can dispute the fact, the problem for me is that he isn't having many days when he is playing well this season. We can cope with his lack of goals when he's playing well, linking up play and setting up goals but if if he isn't doing these things we are just left with a striker who doesn't score goals and we end up carrying him. At present he has 2 goals and 5 assists this season which quite frankly is awful, we are continually told by people who won't have a bad word said against him that he creates all of Fullers' goals which is simply not true. The stats say we win when he plays but this season in particular I think we have won a lot of these games in spite of him and not because of him. Another favourite statement rolled out is that he is vital to how we play and to a degree that is correct because he is the only player at the club who can play in the role is is asked to fulfill. That on it's own does not make him indispensable though, there are other players out there who play the role better than him and score goals to boot. As much as he is derided by some I'd certainly prefer Steve Howard up front to Mama because like Mama he's big, clumsy and a right handful, but unlike Mama once he has won a flick on to a team mate he busts his considerable gut to get in the box to try and get on the end of things as well. I really want Mama to do well for Stoke because he's a hardworking lad and if he does well, Stoke will do well, unfortunately on too many occasions he goes into hiding when the most important job of sticking the white thing between the posts is needed. I would have hoped that by now given our improved transfer position we would have found a better Mama type player but sadly we haven't yet, if we did I'm sure people would see more of his limitations and realise that Stoke City should have a better player than him up front for us. Nobody wants him to start playing well consistently and scoring a few, more than me, (because a few more would be enough) but I genuinely can't see it happening. Good luck Mama, Stoke need you to perform in these last 6 games it could make all the difference as to what division we are in next year.

will someone please remind me of how many goals kyle stillborn got the season peter thorne got 30 , don't think he got to many but because we were winning nobody mentioned kyle . amazingly we draw a game we hoped we would win with 3 key players out .
bring on the pulis haters for him not bringing another striker in before riccy got banned
bring on the lawrence haters ( if there is any ) for him not keeping quiet and getting banned
how quick people forget these are the players that have taken us this far and WILL take us the rest of the way
i admit a few more goals from mama would be nice but ricci wouldn't have got as many as he as without mama ( hence my first comment )

stantheman, I for one don't buy this "Ric wouldn't score goals without Mama" line as most of Ric's goals are all his own work. As for Killer, I think you'll find most Stokies thought he was toss and mentioned it on many an occassion. £500k for him still makes me shudder!!

I think mama;s lack of goals doesnt matter. He runs his socks off every week and holds it up for those who are going to score, the fullers and lawrences in the side. He's a class act and his songs even better...

Sidide and class act are two words that should never be mentioned together.

standtheman7 - I think that Mama has set up 5 goals for Ric this season so that arguement is a little OTT.

i didn't say mama as had a helping hand in all of ricci's goals but the running and the hold up play and the constant menace he makes on the oppositions defence gives ricci the space to do what he does .
and yes ricci would certainly have scored goals without mama , what i'm saying is look at how weak we look up front without mama .
if and its a big if mama scored goals i honestly think he would be worth more than ricci as ricci comes and goes in a game and can turn something from nothing . mamas workrate ( usually ) i think is higher than ricci's.
at the end of the day its the stoke team that have got us where we are not just ricci and not liam . ITS THE TEAM EFFORT WITH ALL THE FANS BEHIND THEM

Mama is the first name on the team sheet because of the way we play and before you say we should change it we are top so why. Mama gets the ball from deep and takes a centre half with him. That enables fuller to have some space. As a coach you tell the full back to cover the centre half who goes with mama. Hence the reason Lawrence has scored so many as he always seems to have a lot of space. Also have a look at how many headers he does actually win on the stats per game i would bet my car on it being in the top 5, % wise in the championship.

If Mama could score goals he'd be playing for a top premiership team . His hold up play is second to none in the championship and to say he doesn't win headers is just plain bollocks as he wins the majority . He can be frustrating and his goal ratio really is laughable but of the strikers we have at the club now the best pairing is Fuller and Sidibe hand's down .

Stillborn got 7 goals that season.
Looks like Mama is going to have to go on a goal spree. ;D

Yes - I seem to remember him getting chinned during a pitch invasion. Can't remember the game though. Some Stokie made that he was going to put his arm around him, and then belted him.
Maybe I imagined it!

Sidibe is the very worst Stoke centre forward since Billy Whitehurst (and that includes Keith Scott). End of!
