The qualifiers begin next Friday and squad is named on Sunday, and the obvious talking point is whether Wayne Rooney should be included based on the poor form he's been showing. What would your squad be?
I'd go with the following squad:
Hart James Foster
Johnson Richards A. Cole Gibbs Terry Shawcross Cahill Jagielka
Walcott Milner J. Cole A. Johnson Gerrard Huddlestone Lampard Wilshere
Rooney Zamora Crouch Defoe
It's not a difficult decision to include Rooney for me, form is temporary and class is permanent and he will come good. He is England's talisman, and his future form will dictate alot of our future success on the International scene. I'd like to see Zamora partner him who showed great potential in the Hungary friendly.

For me the most difficult decision is to reach for the remote control to switch the piggin match on....
I'd rather scratch me arse to be honest.

Shawcross isn't good enough at the moment, sorry Luke.

Shawcross isn't good enough at the moment, sorry Luke. All about opinions I guess. I just think now is the ideal time to give him his chance. Ferdinand is un-available for selection through injury, and Phil Jagielka wasn't overly convincing in the recent Hungary friendly. For me, Shawcross has proven himself against the top strikers in the division over the last few seasons and deserves his chance.

I just feel with the exclusion from the last squad, Shawcross will have to perform out of his skin in the next 15-20 games to stand any chance of getting back into the squad for the forthcoming games. I feel that the way he 'hoofs' the ball, Wilko style, won't do him any favours! Saying that I'm sure when (rather than if) he moves onto a top 4 side he will walk into the England squad, and that doesn't seem right at all!

Wilshere has been called up to the U21 Squad already so that's him out of the equation. (He will be back though) Apart from that don't think your squad is a bad shout at all
I do think however that Rodwell although just as young has played a lot more games for Everton and should play in the holding role

Can't stand Zamora, he looks drugged up and is a pretty average player.
Darren Bent is one of the most overrated English footballers currently, yes he gets bags of goals but how many of them are tap-ins and/or open goals? Most of them.

I know it's unlikely but if I was Capello:
Hart James Foster
Johnson A. Cole Gibbs Terry Shawcross Taylor Jagielka
Walcott Milner J. Cole A. Johnson Barry Young Downing Gerrard Etherington Lampard
Rooney Zamora Bent Defoe C.Cole
Starting XI

Yep, I'd hate to have a striker who could score 24 tap-ins a season at Stoke. Shearer himself wasn't exactly a Lionel Messi but he's still the Premier League's top goal scorer with over 200 goals. A goal is a goal and some strikers just have a nack of reading the game and being in the right place at the right time.

Well said I've said it before but it's quite often relevant you don't win points for how well you look, doesn't matter how he scores em if he puts em in, he's quick and he reads the game well that is his strength and he plays to it how can you have a problem with that, and he's got a belter of a shot so every now and then one does fly in.

ATM I would pick Carrol ove Cole, has the youth, less injury prone and poved him sen at Villa I hate Carrol he's massively overrated without trying to sound hypocritical 2 of his goals were on a plate they were practically in for him take nothing away from the guy he found the ball and got a hat trick and no doubt he'll score more but he'll never be England quality because he's not good enough as an individual he's been at Castle a while the players know him, they know how he plays and they know what he needs he'll do or8 there but he'd be shit anywhere else, he's heavily reliant on his team mates and he only suits the level Castle are at.

Well me for a start, and presumably the majority of the other posters who've contributed to the thread with input on the squad.
