I pay my full whack subscription to the money men at SKY, and directly encourage the financial gulf between the top four and the rest of us, and to be honest, I don't actually watch that many games. I pay for it for convenience i suppose, so that if there is a game i want to watch, it's there (not that there is many).
I had other plans today that did not involve watching the "GRAND SLAM SUNDAY" "SUNDAY SUNDAY" or whatever bollox SKY want to call it. However, I've found myself babysitting (not mine), so having not a great deals else to do but to watch it.
What a load of shit. I mean. Is that the best we can hope for?
If we were to go up, and stay up, and then one day hope for a euro spot, and then a top four finish... Is that the best we've got to look forward to?
A bunch of over rated, over paid, arrogant and immature SPORTSmen (i use the men bit lightly) prancing about!
To be honest, i wouldn't be to0 upset seeing us staying where we are.

Confused ;D
I want us to succeed and compete, but i just hate the way the premiership is. I just don't get any excitement from it.

I have to agree with M to a degree. While during my lifetime I have never Stoke in such a good position (which might give you a clue as to how old I am - early twenties), and with the most likely chance to play premiership football next season as I believe we have ever had, I don't always enjoy watching premiership football. The greatest, and the most annoying, thing about the Championship is that on any given day, pretty much anyone can beat anyone. The football is gritty and the players get involved and seem to care about the team. In the prem it always seems like some ponce is show boating and you pretty much know that if you are up against the top 4 (or let's say top 6 for argument's sake), that you are going to lose. The rest of the teams are mediocre and there is some real trash at the bottom of the league who lose every week. I do think the premiership is something to be aspired to for our great club, but at the same time there needs to be something done about making those teams in the prem love the game the way that it seems we do in the Championship.
Ok, rant over.

Depends on if your cup is half full or half empty. 1) Sitting down to watch football. Its wank, always has been wank and always will be wank 2) Can't even fucking smoke at a game 3) Or swear 4) Or be pissed 5) Or pay on the day 6) Must have a shitty peice of plastic to go away games 7) Are controlled by the police 8) Can't stand up without being forced to sit down 9) Unpc songs banned 10) Ripped off with prices However despite all that shit if the remotest chance came that Stoke City would get promoted and all the £££££££ thats comes with it and it meant bending over and having your arse shafted by Sky sports I'd take it every time. Gone are the days of innocence regarding football. Its a business. Nothing more or nothing less. Its just the way it is I'm afraid and there is fuck all anyone can do about it GD

I can't speak for M, but for myself I never said I didn't want us to go up. There is nothing I would like more than to see the team that I love more than anything to go to the hallowed ground of the premiership because it is regarded as the best league in Europe and is the top flight in English football. It is the thing every player (and every child who loves footie) dreams about, playing for a premiership team and playing against world class players.
I will not and have not ever stopped supporting the mighty Potters, when we were good and when we have been very bad. What I was agreeing with M about was that there doesn't seem to be the same level of excitement about the game both on and off the field in the prem as there is in the other leagues, the Championship especially.
It also doesn't mean that I won't watch us every time we are on TV and as many other games as I can watch on TV (which is quite a lot considering I live in the USA), because I love the game of football.

I think I understand where M and Guersneydave are coming from. They don't deserve abuse for expressing their doubts about the prem.
For what it's worth, I'd be delighted if we went up and even more delighted if the so-called Big Four effed off to their European league and left us with a league which we used to enjoy where anyone with a decent manager and some talented players had a chance of a top five finish.
Much the same north of the border - they can't wait for Rangers and Celtic to bugger off south.

Do something about it youth, get shot of the Sky. I don't have it, don't like whats it done to the game, don't want to watch anyone other than Stoke really anyway, Match of the Day is enough other than going to Stoke games. And don't pretend there's anything other than ythe footy on there worth having Sky for.
If enough people got rid of Sky, the TV revenues would collapse, the Prem temas wouldn't be able to bring in the best foreign players meaning more English players would be bought of lower leagues teams keeping the money circulating down through the leagues giving a more stable platform for the 92 clubs and a better England team as a side bonus. Would we see less attractive, less competative football? No to attractive, and completely the reverse with competative. The only losers would be the agents, Rex and Rupert Murdoch. It really is a no brainer.
The campaign starts here; "Ditch the Dish; Give us back our game"

what i dont want is for us to become a Middlesboro, for want of a better example, nothing to look forward to, nothing to play for...
(and before the pedants come out of the closet, i know they had a good UEFA cup run a few years back, but its hardly a regular occurance)

The campaign starts here; "Ditch the Dish; Give us back our game" I was going to ditch the dish but after hundreds of pounds spent they're finally putting some Stoke games on! Maybe when the season ends. Ditch the dish and buy a season ticket! (Almost rhymes in a Welsh accent!) Sky = £720 per year!

I hate SKY. I don't have it and never will. The problem with the "Ditch the dish" idea though is that there are now just TOO MANY glory hunting fans who don't actually give a shit about football, so a few people making a bit of a stand now is too little and too late, I reckon.
Let the £720 a year (I didn't realise it cost THAT much MrDB!) saving be your motivation and have a holiday on the money saved instead!
