The writing has been on the wall for some time. Our position at the moment is down to the difficulties our rivals have had rather than the magnificence of our team displays.
The January transfer window came and went.Other clubs made hay and invested in their prospects with some super transfer deals. The signings and their impact is evident in the stats. What did we do?
Whilst the situation was implicit from January it has been explicit for the last 4 weeks. Fuller and his bookings were a gimme.
Young Mr.Lawrence states that he will do everything in his power to see Stoke promoted. Not if you are not playing!
Both our leading goal scorers were therefore suspended.Mamas big strength is making the ball available for the strikers. If there were no willing strikers available then even his contribution is nullified.
You did not need a crystal ball to see that our strike force were weak, or to see that at this stage of the proceedings suspensions and injuries could have a major impact.
I would like to believe that the management would agree with me?
If the prescription for the cure is so self evident....i.e.at least one more class striker and or midfielder, why the hell leave it to the last minute (" Don"t panic Captain Mannering")?
This is bordering on the wreckless. Are we really just going to roll over and give this chance to other teams who have shown the desire and commitment for success?
We are not looking like worthy promotion prospects at the moment. Management, make it so.

So how come their super transfer deals haven't put them above Stoke?

Look at the current trends. We should be putting daylight between us and the opposition.
Weaker teams seem to be able to roll over some of the opponents we struggle to get a draw against

But that has nothing to do with your assertion that others did better in the January window - where is the evidence???

From what I remember we were by far the biggest spenders in the Championship in the January transfer window, and I know for a fact that the club are doing their utmost to get a good striker in

But we've missed out for players in the final third of the field. A good winger and a striker, and we would probably more or less been there already. We've f#¤ed things up when could have taken advantage of the others missing points and opened up a gap at the top.

It could be Banksie, but they have/are putting in better performances against teams that we are struggling against
If this continues we will not get the points/goal difference tally we deserve and they will.
Struggling 1-1 draws at home against mid table or lower opposition is not a confidence booster in my book.
If you looked at our recent form/the teams we should have taken 3 points off, just think of the clearwater there should be now.
Are you all that confident that we will go on and slaughter our opponents in the remaining fixtures......and the chasing pack won't?
Based upon recent evidence I am not.
What I find galling is that we had the chance to invest in the squad (Fire Blanks-Blake and E-bola etc) and when logic and common sense scream out for this to happen we get mediocrity to say the least.
And the Nugent thing was a joke! And at least 4 weeks too late.
Managers/owners in our position (so close to promo) are showing a negligence I did not think possible.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but fuck off you spoilt little cunt. We went down from the top flight when I was FUCKING ELEVEN. We've always been shit. We're shit now. Somehow we're doing it. Fuck knows how, but enjoy it!

If you enquire about investments they always put the caveat that " current position is by no means a guarantee of future performance.Your Stokes can also go down."
I have just listened to the radio interview and Super Tone is sounding like one rather worried Easter Bunny.
His answers really do seem to be clucthing at straws-in that sense I am gratified that I think privately he really does "know the score."

We're suffering a dip in form as experienced by all teams at some time or another (again see numerous other promotion hopefuls). I just hope we ride it and still pull off promotion.

Thanks for the encouragement Madeleyite! You 11 when Stoke dropped from top flight. Along time ago then! I was far too young to remember those glory days!

What i'd give for those glory days Sammy Mac, Micky T, Chambo, Dave Watson, inchy, Chapman, Bracey, foxey. Playing Man ure, liverpool, Spurs, The arse, Everton, Villa, west ham et all. This is the football and these are the players I was brought up on. It feels a million years ago, how many years more?

What I'm more concerned about is how we avoid being next season's Derby County if we go up.

Apologies young dude. Seriously though, expect nothing. Our season so far has been unbelievable - but I'm so used to Stoke letting me down. Me dad was at Wembley in 72 - a year before I was bloody born unfortunately

Money for promotion, parachute payment for demotion.
If your owners don't want to invest money in the squad it is one way of building up reserves for a sustainable challenge.

The thing is, I don't care about other teams! It's pointless and negative to make comparisons. We should be beating the Blackpool's of this league. If we're"top on merit", then why are we seeing so little proof of the merit so heavily lauded by a few of you?
