Stoke won this pre-season encounter with League Of Wales side Prestatyn with a fine headed goal five minutes from time from Matty Lund after a teasing cross from Soares. The Prestatyn keeper despite despite having the largest BMI of any footballer I've ever seen was excellent and fully deserved the man of the match accolade keeping Stoke's strikers at bay, the pick of the saves, being a fantastic point blank one handed reflex save in the 82nd minute from a close range Beattie header. A strong Stoke side were rarely tested, and apart from keeper Dunt's exploits his defence covered him when beaten, a superb cross from the lively Marshall found Beattie and his trick shot beat Dunt only to be cleared from the goal line 12 minutes after the restart. the first half was simialr fare, pretty muchone way traffic but without the cuttin edgethat a similar Stoke side had managed two weeks earlier at Albion Rovers where the Potters won 9-0. Soares saw a cross come back off the bar, and Beattie. kitson and Marshall all went close. With Stoke's defence rarely tested the plaudits went to Marshall and Soares on thewings, but Man of the Match was the excellent keeper John Dunt. A good turnout of Stoke fans present in the crowd of around 400.
Carlo Nash, Andy Wilkinson, Danny Pugh (c), Matty Lund, Ryan Shotton, Carl Dickinson, Tom Soares, Michael Tonge, James Beattie, Dave Kitson, Ben Marshall
subs (all usused) Andy Davies, Danzielle St. L Hamilton, Jack Harrison, Nick Jackson, Michael Clarkson

Cheers for that. By that lineup Marshall seems to be playing on the left wing a lot recently (his 'wrong' side) - anyone know why?

Marshall is two footed, and is a good player, always puts in a shifta nd can beat his man - he has apetualnt side which he needs to lose, but good things expected of him from what I've seen - and he did score more league goals than any other Stoke player last season!

Is you Grandad about 5 9 and greying hair - goes to Prestatyn regularly as he has acaravan there but hasn't been to the ground before? If so I stood next to him in the first half - was with mr bother and our two small kids (aged 6 and 8) - he was a real nice feller too!

Yes, I watched him play for Carlisle last season - just up the road for me. He's got pace, a good cross and knows where the goal is. I hope he gets loaned to a Championship club until January and then gets a few games for Stoke.

He does go to Prestatyn regularly but as far as im aware has never been to the ground, said he was stood on the terraces, he was probably with my nan, doubt he'd go alone ;D
