In my bosses work he has regular meeting with Tony Scholes.. Yesterday in the meeting Tonys phone was going constantly. My boss, being a Stoke fan asked if it was a signing?? Scholes said " If this lad signs then people will not believe it!" My boss tried to enquire further to which Scholesy said "If it goes well then I am hoping to complete it by 2pm tomorrow! (I know that time has now passed) Wonder if anyone has heard anything... It sounds very positive..

If he said it would be done hopefully by 2, I'm very surprised. It's not like Stoke to be slow with transfer negotiations...

I love any old transfer rumours; crap ones, small ones, big ones, implausible ones...
Keep 'em coming.
And to be fair, 'pushon' (who doesn't seem to post much but seemed to hint at the Griffin and Gallagher deals before they happened) said there was a chance with Diomansy Kamara in a couple of posts yesterday.
He'd fit the bill as an exciting £6m 20-goal Championship striker.
But Pulis sounds less than optimistic about anyone arriving today.

Can you ask Bernie to start doing his job properly and stop insisting that Stoke fans are treated differently to virtually every other citizen in the land? Thanks.

Kamara was the target yesterday this is 100% true my mate at the brit texted me at 11.35 am yesterday with the message "stoke after Kamara from fulham" this guy has worked for Stoke for 3 years and is always very reliable. But just because were after him dont mean its going to happen sadly.

Scholes said " If this lad signs then people will not believe it!" Well, I wouldn't. A bloke who cost £6m 8 months ago and scored 23 goals last season isn't your run-of-the-mill loanee for Stoke!

If he was proven and a consistent scorer at the top level (as opposed to 23 goals in the Championship last season) I wouldn't believe it.

It seems like there's always talk of big names, how long have we waited for the signing which would rock the city, and now someone we wouldn't belive? Don't think we'll make a signing of any real big names as long as Pulis is manager.

Scholes said " If this lad signs then people will not believe it!" To be honest mate the way that it is going people would not believe it if we signed any striker, never mind a big name. We have needed a decent goal-scorer to complement Fuller since the start of last season, and we still haven't managed to find one. Pulis and the management team have had some great achievements this season, but his inability to strengthen in the right areas may well cost us. I'm sure as anything that if we had a problem in defense we'd soon find a player to fill the gap.

So true Mr M, so true.
My theory is that Defenders are cheaper than strikers.

I hadn't read this when I posted...
20/03/2008 - 4pm update: Pulis backs his players
TONY Pulis is backing his present squad to finish the job of winning promotion - even if he fails to land another goalscoring striker between now and the end of the season.
Pulis still has his ear to the ground as he seeks cover for the suspended Ricardo Fuller’s and the injury-threatened Mama Sidibe. But he insists it isn’t the end of the world if City have to plough on without a new face in attack. “We have been looking, like everybody else, but it’s a very difficult market because everybody is looking for the same players for that final push. “But if we don’t get one, we’ll go with what we’ve got. “We are not trying to undermine them we have, but just add to the group so we can cope with the kind of injuries and suspension we’ve got this Saturday. You are looking for a player who’s better than Ricardo or better than Mama - and that isn’t easy. “If we don’t get him, I’ll still be confident with the squad we’ve got. We’ve done it for 39 games and there’s no reason why we can’t do it for the last seven.” * Former City favourite John Eustace faces an FA charge of improper conduct after referee Rob Styles reported him for failing to leave the pitch quickly enough following last weekend’s red card in the Watford v Stoke clash. Eustace, who already has a three-match ban for the original sending off, could now be punished with a further two-match suspension if found guilty.
I'd say it looks unlikely froim this piece. Also I love the fact that it is not easy to find a player better than Mama. ???
