Not long back from the Nantwich match. I little disappointed that there were not as many first team fringe players, but sounds like i caught the better of the two games tonight. Moult (cracking finishes and jumps well for a short arse), Lund (strong in the challenge) and Marshall all looked lively (although Marshall doesn't like to put a cross in much for someone playing out wide, so he kept cutting inside with some good turns). Cuvelier looked good too, but i think the match center review was a little too complimentary, as i didn't think he stood out as much as they are suggesting. Davies and Sonko looked alright (but they should be against competition from that level). And yes; Kitson was awful. Didn't seem remotely bothered. Dickinson could have got about 4 yellow cards and Shotton looked steady and tried getting forward a bit. DLH wouldn't stop shouting all match, but didn't have much to do. Oh, i nearly forget Soares. Didn't do much wrong, but didn't stand out either. Finally, the pies were that hot, i thought my mouth was going to melt. Excellent summary

Since when has a 6 foot tall footballer been a short arse? Wonder if I can get a part in the remake of The Wizard of Oz?

If he was playing on the left (like he did in the second half Austria) that would explain why he was cutting in, as he is right footed and normally plays as right winger or a striker.

I saw him playing right wing for Carlisle and he put dozens of crosses over. I presume he'll be playing on the right when the league season starts if not before.

I was quite disappointed all round to be honest.
hoped there'd be a few more first teamers there, particularly in net: both sorenson and begovic should be playing as much football as possible! & none of the players really stood out.
moult took his 2 goals well, but lacks the pace or a single stand-out attribute that makes you think he'll cut it.
does anyone know who was who in midfield? Number 4 (i think Lund) looked potentially our best player, but went missing for first 20mins of 2nd half. No 7 (poss Cuvelier) looked v lightweight, not upto speed and the game seemed to pass him by, although he did a few simple things well in the 2nd half. a few of the players looked dissappointed to be playing there instead of notts county. shotton seemed to play well within himself (making a couple of lazy lunges early in the 2nd half) - his play reminded me a bit of wayne thomas. Marshall put in a couple of good crosses, beat his man at ease a couple of times and kept his head well when pulling the ball back for moults 2nd, but was very much in and out of the game. it looked men (nantwich) against boys (stoke) out there, and alot of our players didnt seem interested in many 50/50's - i guess it was just a pre-season friendly at nantwich town to them. but no one dominated against non-league opposition. heres hoping that it was just a friendly, but none looked like theyd make it as a premiership player on this performance.
oh does anyone know which sub was which? couldnt tell what the PA said when those came on. there was a lad who looked v impressive at HT who didnt come on. he was stood nearerest the corner flag on the main stand side. looked like a proper footballer. his touch was awesome, and he was pinging the ball off both feet a la wesley schneijder, id say he had short blond hair but that could describe all 5 out there at HT! hopefully he's the lad we nicked from Bristol and he'll be a good prospect!

The unused sub was indeed Brunt who has joined the youth team squad this summer from Bristol City.
I think I have spotted the atribute Louis Moult may have that you were searching for; he scores bags of goals whatever level he plays at. ;D
