Pulis definitely needs to pay close attention to this lad. Was excellent (again) in the reserves today. Quick, tricky winger who can beat his man. Only young but definitely has a bright future in the game.

Every time I have watched the U18's & reserves with Jimmy playing, I have always been really really impressed. He is definitely not your usual product of our academy.
From what I have seen over about 8-10 games, I believe this lad could go far in the game.

Despite scoring, Demar had a poor game I thought. Last 20 mins he wasn't too bad but overall was too lightweight and took too long on the ball to make up his mind. He never beats thye first men when taking corners either, afraid he isn't/won't be good enough.

Maybe that proves he shouldn't be taking the corners! ;D

Demar not good enough ? ? Ive seen him in the reserves and for me he's a great prospect. Is he not good enough based on one game ?

Would you care to elaborate?

I think he probably means a poor footballer. I disagree though as our academy although not produced a real top quality player quite a few have been churned out.

Milton, I've been to the reserves numerous times this season, and every time he has been poor. People keep banging on about him being young, but he's 23 and way too lightweight and when he has the ball he does little with it.
He's one of them players who runs around like a headless chicken and does nothing with the ball. Thanks for the smite as well

I don't think he's been lightweight when I've seen him. He's been tenacious and held the ball well.

Jimmy always stands out and was excellent as ever today.
As for Demar, he did look clinical in front of goal but apart from that didn't do much else. He had plenty of chances to influence the game more than he did and I have to agree Monkfish, when you say that he is too lightweight.

Smite was nowt to do with me. From what ive seen in the reserves he's been good. He's s quick , great left foot and for his size good in the air. Fair enough he is light weight but so is shaun wright phillips, i think he'll come good next season..

Manneh "He is definitely not your usual product of our academy." Would you care to elaborate? I mean footballing ability. Who was the last one to come out of our academy to possess real quality? That's not a dig at Wilko, Dicko et al either (I think they are fantastic players) just that I reckon Jimmy Phillips has a whole lot of technical ability about him.

I don't think he's been lightweight when I've seen him. He's been tenacious and held the ball well. I was on about Demar. When I've seen him, if he's lost the ball he's always fought for it back and often got it. I don't think he got outmuscled either. He rides a tackle brilliantly imo.

I used to play football with him at Futebol de Salao in Stafford. Definately would like to see him progress, the speed at which he can do tricks and move the ball around is amazing.

thorley had to switch out to the right wing for about 50 mins of the game, due to grocott's injury, went back to the centre of midfield when matteo got subbed off. did well though. covered alot of ground for the team as well.

Did Wedderburn play?

Post by york stokie on Mar 19, 2008 19:41:01 GMT
he came on to replace grocott, so played most of the game. looked good. Very strong player, who despite his size showed some good touches and turns to get himself out of tricky situations

Phillips and Wedderburn are the two that impress me the most out of the current crop. Thorley isn't a bad player either.
