Signed:
Christian Riveros - Paraguayan midfielder Simon Mignolet - Belgium Goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Muhammadi - Egyptian Right Winger Marcos Angeleri - Argentine Defender expected to finalise over the weekend
And bidding £7mill on Upson ( though god only knows why...)
Makes you wonder why we continue to wait don't it, when these, Brum, West Ham, Man City etc seem to have no problem getting people in..

It all depends on where clubs are looking though, bruce will no doubt have a far bigger and wider scouting network than TP and probably more contacts on the worldwide side of the game, add to the fact that sunderland pay some very handsome wages too. Stoke are no doubt chasing rainbows again to find that elusive pot of gold, let's hope it works out in our favour.

Who are these players? No wonder they are signing them early, cus no bugger else wants them. I'd prefer to wait and sign some decent players!

It's a risk, bruce loves taking them as a manager having punts on obscure players from here there and everywhere. Sometimes they come off other times they don't. I would like to think our list of signed players looks a lot healthier than that one come august.

Some risks there. They could make Europe or they could struggle, who knows.
Worryingly, the more players they sign, the more Sunderland rejects that leaves for TP to snap up ;D

I remember we signed a Dutchman called Dirk Schreuder thirteen years ago. Didn't quite come off as we hoped!!
I wouldn't bother getting my knickers in a twist over this lot.

The Egyptian is a right back I think and from the ANC he looked good, they've got him on loan so the risk is minimal.
Riveros has looked decent in the World Cup.
The other two, I've never heard of.

Christian Riveros - Paraguayan midfielder - Allways rated him and a player I would have liked here. Simon Mignolet - Belgium Goalkeeper - Under 21 Belgium international and had alot of other choices in Holand and Germany Ahmed Al-Muhammadi - Egyptian Right Winger - Looked good in ACON Marcos Angeleri - Centre back - Bruce wants rid of Turner so been told as he is not the player he thought he was (as I said at the time of 7mill was way overprices)

It's a failing of ours that we're less prepared to look overseas than other clubs.

Christian Riveros - 50 caps for Paraguay, so he's no slouch Simon Mingolet - Was being chased by PSV and Udinese, so must have something Ahmed Al-Muhammadi - Dubbed the Egyptian David Beckham and is their superstar. Marcus Angeleri - 184 times for Estudiantes and 3 caps for Argentina.. Just because they aren't household names here doesn't make them shite though does it..? Of course they're a gamble, but so's Ledley for us aint he...? Do we reckon Sunderland fans will be massively jealous of Ledley signing for us, i very much doubt it, even a lot of folk on here don't bloody want him..

If we HAD to get another CB in, we could do a lot worse, would prefer him over Wheater. The fact that they've got 2 CBs in does make what you say seem likely. One in to replace Mensa (Who they obviously aren't going to get in permanently,) and one to replace Turner.

I think that bruce having been at the top end of the game for the majority of his career will have worldwide contacts galore from his experiences. Pulis will never take these kind of risks or very rarely (arismendi) and only time will tell whether it is to his detriment.

He's apparently modelled his scouing policy on Wenger's, and to find gems like Palacios in such far flung places of the globe as Honduras is commendable. Tone's reticence regarding the foreign market is one of his biggest failings imo.
