Hartson is right on both counts.
He is very slow and we will hit it over his head.
For a million though, You can't argue, anything more and we've been robbed.

There are a hell of a lot of Premier League players who are 'Too Slow' but it doesn't stop them making a living there. It's all relative and I doubt Ledley is slower than some we have already in the side. It's not a signing that would 'excite' me but if he's going to cost that little then we would be mad not to take him. He'd have to be worth spending that given that he is still young and could yet be much better than any of us are giving him credit for at this stage. If he does turn out to be the average player that most of us think he is then we've lost very little.

What does Hartson know? He was pundit at the Arsenal FA cup game and clearly knew fook all.
If TP was willing to pay £6million for him 2 seasons ago, that just shows how much he rates him. He is the sort of young player that could develop like Tim Cahill did for Everton. For £1million it would be a great signing

You don't need to be an expert to see that he's slow. I've only been saying it for 2 years now. ;D I think the line goes, "he's one paced and that is slow".

A player currently with Cardiff is looking at property on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border which would be a mid-way point between Stoke & Cardiff.

So if your slow that means you cant be a good centre mid? i dont remember frank lampard having electric pace. Neither Paul Scholes, or Xavi, Iniesta, etc etc. Now Im not in anyway saying hes in that bracket of quality, but to moan about us bringing him in on that basis just sums up how little you know about football.

if his speed of thought is quick then he'll be fine.
have to say that football people's opinions of Ledley in general are higher than fan's opinions
he's young & it looks like a good signing without being earth-shattering

Where have I said that being slow makes him or anybody a bad player? ;D And where have I said that him JUST being slow makes him a bad player? ;D This thread is based on Hartson's comments where he says Ledley is slow, hence why I'm just mentioning the slowness and how an ex pro agree with me! I do happen to think we need quicker players because as mentioned earlier our squad is generally slow. Fancy a bum?

I for one really hope we get him, above the (reported) interest of ROMA, EVERTON and CELTIC. I understand you don't rate him based on his performances during the last 12-18 months. However, if you take a look at the bigger picture - captain of club and country at 23, alot of experience for a young player, consistently been linked with big clubs since a young age, we bid 6 mill for him only what 18 months ago so our manager tp (the most successful manager the club has had in my lifetime) rates him very highly - maybe it would make sense to wind ur neck in on this one

Captain of Wales, wow.
All games played at a level below us.
We paid 5 million for Whitehead, all it shows is that we're willing to pay big money for average players.
I have wound my neck in and I can't wait for him to sign. ;D

He still has a lot to prove. He needs to find some consistency and score some goals to prove his price tag. He is imo still way, way overpriced.

Yeah, I don't think Whitehead's done enough to justify MMF's "better than Delap" claims.

Whitehead is a far better player than many give him credit for and i for one believe Ledley will prove to be a top signing as well but i suppose many on here will slate him from day one as usual which amazes me when we have waited so long for signings.

I don't get the "we've waited for ages for signings so we should just be happy with anyone!!!" argument. I really haven't seen enough of Ledley specifically to comment one way or the other in that particular case though.

Whitehead had a good period sandwhiched in between a woeful period and a poor period. He's definitely not worth the money we paid for him. Next season he needs to be more consistent and score more goals imo. If we get the good Whitehead then we have a good player but we didn't see that Whitehead for the majority of the season. And he definitely isn't better than Delap.
As for Ledley, his slate his wiped clean for me, I hope he plays immensley for us.

In what way?
Delap is a superior and cleverer defensive midfielder.
