I'm sure I heard a rumour that you were doing a bit of match assessment for the F.A. I may be wrong , but if you ever get the opportunity to assess the performance of the Rob Styles show ...would you please delicately word your report in the following way.. "This excuse of a man is a complete joke, who craves notoriety and achieves this by booking anything that moves and takes particular pleasure in over-ruling his linesman at every opportunity. He shows scant regard for their opinions and has now got things wrong so many times this season,(GRAVE ERRORS OF JUDGEMENT) that his decisions are more likely to affect who gets promoted this season than any other single factor." Why oh sodding why...is he allowed to continue making a bloody mockery of games...? Take the Eustace sending off for a start..>>A better referee would have immediately realised that there was no grievous intent there. The F.A REALLY NEED to get a grip of this lunatic and sack him..! I know that this subject has been raised before...but just take the time to have a look at the next game he officiates over ,for his latest series of blunders.!! Rant Over.!

I've got to say, re: SJE's sending off, I was listening on the radio and just assumed from Acre's reaction and Nige's that it was an appaling decision, but after watching The Championship yesterday, I've got to say, it was far worse than I expected, and a red card would have been dished out by plenty of ref's.
We know SJE wouldn't have had 'intent' on his mind, but its not the ref's job to interpret intention, just the outcomes. After all, the lad tackling Eduardo the other week didn't have 'intent' on his mind, but you can't argue it wasn't a sending off - its to avoid those kind of injuries that such tackles are red-carded!

styles is a twat but that is spot on stiggers
I too was expecting nothing much watching it on tv but the foot was above the knee - intentionally or not
the peno decision was a joke though
edit:- I doubt an appeal on the red card would be succesful

stiggerstackle...point taken over the Eustace incident perhaps..however this guy makes the headlines week in week out, and all for the wrong reasons.!
That is the point I'm making and how many more crucial decisions is he likely to get wrong before the end of the season...?
He could literally affect the outcome of who gets automatic promotion and relegation for that matter.

I agree with you Mumf, if I were that bad at my job I'd be hauled into the office 1st thing monday morning and have a strip torn off - next time it happened it would be curtains, but ref's do seem immune.
The penalty decision was a shocker - and certainly could have been very costly come the final day of the season. Griff's sending off the other week was also a joke.
Most managers assert that you get those decisions all season, some for and some against, and they generally even out, but we do seem to be experiencing the thin end just lately!

Surely there would be less decisions one way or the other if Mr Styles et al stopped brandishing red & yellow cards

Can't believe some of these comments. If tht was a sending off we may as well pack in and go and watch non contact sport like basketball or netball. I also et very annoyed when every time there is a challenge between centre forward and centre half people bay for a foul either way. The namby pamby way refs and supporters now go about is ruining the game.

The penno decision was shocking, but John Eustace can have no complaints about the sending off, it was a very poor challenge. Most refs would have done the same but Styles is still a smug, egotistical git.

If that was a ered Greenhoff all the defenders in your day would have been sent off. Yellow would have been fair. Agree that the pen was farcical.

by watching Big League Weekend 2 last night, typical sky I suppose.... but they were trying to make out that Cresswell was faking injury... and had gone down easily. If someone had studded you in the balls you wouldn't be running off asif nothing had happend would you!

I intially felt sorry for John Eustace but after seeing "the tackle" several times, I am pretty confident most referees would have dished out a red card. It could have resulted in a very bad injury for Cresswell and what would we all have been saying then, if Syles had not sent Eustace off????

Watford are not appealing after watching it on TV so like them i reakon Styles got it right. No intent but still puting a player at risk of dangerous play

Maybe it's time to have two refs on the pitch, one in each end. With hoof ball games the ref can find himself miles away from potential decisions. It always seems a waste to have a qualified ref on the side line as a 4th official, anyone can operate a stopwatch and check subsitution paperwork.
Just my thoughts....
