I don't think he's better than Danny Pugh so I don't think he will be. ;D Danny Pugh is a fantastic central midfielder though that has been severely under used.
Looking at Ledley's record is interesting though, he has played 6 seasons for Cardiff and in 5 of them in the league he has scored 3/4 goals in that season. And then in 07/08 he got 10. Does anyone know why in that season he suddenly became a goal scoring machine? I can't because I didn't take any notice of him then. ;D

And he didn't miss big parts of the season before last as he played 40 league games. So my eyes deceived me then and he was brilliant? He was as he was this season, sitting in the middle, passing the ball 4 yards, being slow and not doing very much. He missed parts of it then, around the mid stage of the season when players find their form and really start mtoring but was an ever present when fit and even got made captain. Your eyes obviously decieved you as he did have a good season because he was selected as a player of the season in a team that didn't even make the play offs. You probably just saw a few 2 minute highlights everyweek and based your opinions on that.

Nope, I watched full games because if it was full highlights they wouldn't show You what he did, which was diddley squat.

Every single game, all 40 of those league games?
That's probably why you hate him so much because you've wasted so much of your life watching him

Just found this on another forum. It's the top 30 free agents this summer. Anyway, it says next to Joe ledley in brackets that he'd actually cost £500,000 training tribunal fee. Surely, he will cost more than that won't he? It's probably just a guess but i thought i'd share football-forever.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=55093&pid=788739&st=0entry788739It's actually not a bad list either. I'd take 4 or 5 players off there. I'd definatley take a gamble on that no 24, he's supposed to be brilliant.

And I know we won't sign him for 750k more like £3million. I thought he was out-of-contract now. Fee to be agreed by tribunal? Edit: Sorry - Missed mrpickles post.

It is down to tribunal and seeing as we got about 750k all in told for Patto who barrely played a game for us I can't see us getting Ledley for 500k. And I think that figure is based on UEFA rules when a player moves from one country to another where there is a standard payment for how many years they trained at that club.
Unless I'm mistaken we won't get that with Ledley as we play in the same pyramid system. So we will have to pay what a tribunal sets. Cardiff will go to the tribunal with a strong argument. 23-200 games-captain of his country-£6 million bid. If we can get him for 500k based on that then fucking ace and genuinely mean that because 500k is nothing.
As for Pugh, he's a damn good central midfielder.

if he goes outside England or Wales Cardiff get zip (& Ledley gets a bigger signing on fee)
Rangers & Celtic can offer him Euro football too
however he may want to play in the prem & despite having to pay a fee prem clubs will still prob be be able to offer more £££

It is weird that the "young player rule" is different for players transferring between the English leagues to those transferring outside the English League. I wonder how that happened - potentially it puts clubs outside England and Wales at a big advantage when signing our young players.

Danny Pugh is an very valuable squad player because of how hard he works and his versatility to play midfield and fullback - and I trust him completely when he's on the pitch. But he's not a "fantastic central midfielder".

As I've described him before on here, he is a left back come left winger that isn't very good at left back or on the left wing can play in central midfield. He can spot a pass better than other central midfielder we have. And he puts his foot in more than Whelan and Whitehead and has a good energy. He's a very underated central midfielder. And 25k a week, fuck me.

There is a training fee that is a set price that FIFA bought in to stop players like this moving for absolutley nothing. We were set to get about 200k for Vass for it because he moved to Brescia. It's like a compensation for training them up.

It is 24 for transfers within the English/Welsh leagues but 23 for other transfers between countries. I read this the other day but couldn't say where I found it. As Vass was under 23 we got a payment for him - had he been over 23 we would not have got one.

Cheers Forny! I presumed (the mother of all fuck ups I know) that it would be the same rules as that would make sense. Sense and FIFA? ;D Deary me. As for Ledley, he's mad, Glasgow is way nicer than Stoke Joe.

Looks done and dusted. No point moaning about it any more. He obviously floats Pulis' boat in a massive way for some reason. Hopefully his faith will be justified.

I don't understand this relentless slagging of players before they come. He's got talent, he's young, he's hungry and he seems like he wants to play for Stoke under Pulis. Christ knows we need a few of them. Well, we are talking about a board where a good proportion of it's posters don't feel that Heskey would improve our squad for £2m. Some people are simply fuckwits. Ledley's hungry, highly rated, has a football brain and the ability to convert that into good play. He might 'only play for Wales' but Gareth Bale's not bad is he? Anyone who feels that Ledley's not a step forward has lost all sense of reason, and forgotten where we have come from, and to an extent what we still are, as a club. btw, Zigic is wank!
