We surely must have better full backs in this country than him as a back up to Cole,he makes Danny Collins look world class ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

Bang on. The step up to International is more difficult than most of the media believe. Baines exposed by a bunch of Mexicans. I shudder to think what the likes of Brazil, Spain etc will do to him if Cashley gets injured.
Cashley is a despicable bloke but a brilliant left back.

It why I was worrying about Ryan making his debut when he was picked in the squad. I'd say that Ryan is about on a par with Joleon Lescott, who shone at Everton but is becoming exposed pretty frequently when trying to play at the next level with Man City. Baines is by no means a bad player, but he's struggled against pretty run of the mill international opponents. It's a big step up.

I think we can count Darren Bent (who also should have received more of a chance) out. Heskey's position looks far less secure than it was.

We have some shocking internationals and i believe this will be our worst world cup in a while.
I can only think of 3 world class players in that squad. Cole, Lampard, Rooney... apart from that the rest aren't much better than club level.

I don't think the value of a top manager can be underestimated at this level.

Baines looked like a pub player at times, totally out of his depth (no pun intended), King was little better either. For me the back five has to be:
Cole Rio Terry Johnson with Hart or James in goal. If Baines plays I want my money back.
PS Hustler, you can't knock the goals Lamps scores for England. Talking of goals both Lamps and Crouch should also start for their goals.

I'd be happy to see Baines as the starting left-back at Stoke

Almost universally overrated and failures at international level to a man. The number of world class players we have is somewhere between zero and one.

Of course Baines was shit but let us not forget how he was hung out to dry by the most overrated player of this or any other generation in Steven Gerrard. In the middle of midfield Gerrard is overrated, on the left he is wank and a complete liability.

Baines was gash last night I bet Cole was laughing his nuts off in the stands with Bridge out of the way, he now has no competition for that spot as Fabio obviously rates Baines higher than Warnock.

I'd be happy to see Baines as the starting left-back at Stoke Me too. Doesn't make him a world cup calibre international left back.

I presume Warnock will be given 90 minutes to prove himself against Japan. We all know Cole is the first choice at left back, so there isn't much point in 'checking him out'.
Baines was dreadful last night (as he was in his other international appearance). Carrick is another who could well be added to the 7, as can Parker.

To be dropped, if I was Fabio:
Baines, Upson, Carrick, Huddlestone, Parker, Walcott, Bent (although it beggars belief that he's not been given more of a chance).
The more you look at that England squad, the worse it looks, even with the chaff like Walcott removed.

Our squad is threadbare with quality.
Milner is a good player but will get overshadowed by Gerrard and Lampard and pushed out wide into a position that is less suited to him. Therfore we'll have an underperforming Gerrard in the middle with Lampard who never looks the same player without a very good holding man behind him.
get this team together and we'd see an improvement
Hart
Johnson Ferdinand Terry A Cole
Lennon Lampard Barry J Cole
Gerrard
Rooney

Ringo, I like your eleven as an attacking force but we'd get properly raped down the flanks with A Cole/Johnson having to repeatedly get back into position. Lennon and J Cole hardly fill you with confidence covering their runs forward. That said, this might be our best tactic (Mr Capello)... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

I'd do exactly the same - building the starting 11 around Gerrard having a free role.
