Well done Tone, raised a huge amount of Money.
It's worth pointing out that he didn't get to the Summit, he got to Gillman's point due to terrible weather conditions. Gillman's Point is deemed success, but it is 300 feet short of summit.
TBH, when I saw they were doing to Marangu route (which is quicker) I doubted they would make it, your body simply can't acclimatise quickly enough if you take this shorter route. I did the Lemosho (8 day route) in Feb this year and acclimatisation is tough even when you take 8 days.

If you can afford and are so inclined a donation would be appropriate...(not many donations in recent days on the website) TP: Target: £50,000.00 Raised so far: £32,259.19 www.kili4kids.org/Everyone was suffering, in mind and body, but the worst affected were: Mo Iqbal (Tile Giant) – admitted to hospital after collapsing on mountain with severe altitude sickness. Adrian Pennock (Stoke youth coach) – sent to hospital with severe altitude sickness after reaching the summit. Frankie Poultney (TV ice dancer) – Taken off mountain after repeated vomiting and exhaustion. Melanie Mills (Donna Louise) – Taken off mountain suffering from exhaustion and mild hypothermia. Martin Spinks – Sent to hospital after losing use of both legs shortly after reaching the summit.

Thankfully he is back in one piece, unlike many of the others!
Another great job for charity with little interest established beyond the Potteries. I know it's a local charity, but could you imagine Fergie, Wenger etc doing this? There would be minute by minute updates on the BBC.

MASSIVE well done too Tony Pulis and the team for doing what they did in aid of a very good cause!!! Now lets see Wenger, Fergie, Manchini & Ancelotti do something similar, after all, these are the "Media jizz-fest four"....... .....jeez, could you imagine if any one of those four DID do something like that for Charity, they'd be hailed as a National Hero!!! ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/vEIFeJPtIIq1awrUd6zP.gif)

I did the Lemosho (8 day route) in Feb this year and acclimatisation is tough even when you take 8 days. I'm sure you are right. The extra time taken on the journey to Africa because of the change in plans due to the volcanic ash probably had a big effect on the outcome for some of them as they effectively had a day less than planned for the climb. Even with a change of route you can't get round the fact that they reached summit day with a day's less acclimatisation than planned. Well done to everyone who took part - that includes those who made it to the summit rim and those who didn't. They will all have given more effort than they thought they had to give and will have had an experience they will never forget. Now, those Stokies who have not yet donated - give what you can even if it is only a fiver.

"Battling arctic conditions, temperatures of minus 20 and extremely poor visibility, both team captains reached the summit after ten hours climbing altitudes of over 5000 metres." - Now Pulis knows what its fuckin well like for us lot to get to a Tuesday night home game in November. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/3zptH1h3SvRnVmRGLyMP.gif)
