Debateable, hence Wolves letting him go.

Described about 20 minutes ago by a WWW ST holder as horrible arrogant self centred pile of garbage. Just what TP likes to work with

That's the beauty of loans, though. Bothroyd is undoubtedly a player with a chip on his shoulder and can often be seen skulking around the Wolves pitch looking disinterested.
But, just like with Parkin last season, he'll be busting a gut to impress us and we should see his undoubted ability come out. I think it could turn out to be a magnificent signing.

I am correct in thinking that this guy can also play as a winger?

I work with a few Wolves fans who all say he's quality, but only when he actually bothers to play! Very lazy at times, bit in the Fuller mode ! Still, if they both 'play' on the same day, it could be fireworks!

Not the best signing IMO. You could do better. What's happened to Nugent, is he staying at Pompey reserves? Wolves fans get very frustrated with JB, and when I've seen him he has to be one of the laziest, bone idle gits in football. Awful attitude. Well done Pulis.

I have seen Bothroyd play several times(TV), and I actually think he is their best striker. He is strong and pacey, and he really has a good left foot. Very pleased with this signing, and hope we can get him for the rest of this season at least! ;D

Kept this one quiet didn't they ?... seems to tick all Pulis' requirements, 6'3 big black not very prolific in front of goal, jury still out on wether he's a "arrrd worker" though .

He scored both goals against us for Coventry a couple years back at the Brit, Cov won, either by 1-2 or 0-2, can't remember. Anyway, I seem to recall him being a bit of an handful at the time, and then thinking it was a strange decision by Coventry when they let him go???
Didn't know about is attitude (or should I say, lack of) at the time!!!

That match was probably what alerted us to his possible availability.
Bothroyd may not be the dog's bollocks, but I will take talented and moody ahead of the supremely untalented bambi-a-like who has been buggered off (thankfully!) to St. Marys. On that basis, the squad has been improved immeasurably today.

Just a side note on that reserve game. Surprisingly, Pulis wasn't present at the match.
It was Kemp & Rudgie doing the scouting duty- just thought I would share that bit of info with you!!

Amen to that, Jezza. At least when they've got some ability, there's a chance they could play with a rocket up their arse for a month (sounds painful) if they find some motivation from somewhere.

doesnt strike me as a Pulis type player, and he aint the target man to apparantly replace the possibly injured Sidibe - whats the betting he ends up on the left? - he is left-footed i believe...
Feeling a bit sorry for Gally...

It is certainly a brave decision by TP to go for him. Bothroyd has been a regular topic of conversation with my Wolves supporting mates over the whole of this season. As mentioned by others above, they describe him as someone who will play, sometimes brilliantly for 5 minutes, and then sulk for the other 85. However, he is one of the few players available at this level who could actually step in to the Fuller role (sulks and all He has pace and power to burn. He packs a real wallop and can strike a mean free kick. His tendancy to start well at each of his clubs and then appear to lose interest after a while means now is probably the best time to sign him. He is a player of Premier League talent and if TP can get his head straight, at least for the next 2 months, he could make a real difference.

I sort of thought TP might pull a surprise out of the hat like this. He sounds like a potential cross between Mama and Ricci, which on paper would be really exciting for the way we play. Sounds like TP's prepared to take a risk on a bit of temperament too. I'm looking forward to what happens next.
Still want Nugent more though.

does this signal the end of the Nugent interest, or is Bothroyd a "just in case"

The guy has bags of talent. He can easily turn it on when he wants to, he just doesn't turn it on, on a regular basis.
He needs someone do give him a good kick up the ass!
I think Pulis is capable of doing this, but it maybe a little late in the season to see the best out of him.
I think he could be a valuable impact player for us, though.
