Because we've had so many years of shit from this football club (not just that either if you want to look at the Potteries as a whole... The closures of the mines and the pits and everything else, we've got an incompetent council that does too little too late, we're poor as fuck), so when we finally think we're getting somewhere with the club, it looks like we might blow it at the final hurdle. Obviously if we went up via the playoffs it would still be excellent, but when we have a potential division-winning squad (kudos to the Tonemeister for putting it together) it looks as if we could possibly have it rammed right up our arses by inept tactics and baffling squad selections (same old TP).
It's nothing that can be helped and it's nothing to be embarrassed about, when it finally looks as if we have something to smile about in the area it wobbles and looks like it might fall off the tracks. It's happened enough times in the past for us to think that way, so it's fully justified, if a little unfair and premature.
